i doh wanna go off topic but i wanna try dex for d 1st time feb17th and i was wondering(i searched and read about tires etc) but i have a d15b non vtec basically stock just intake and exhaust, no stabilizer bars etc potential dex car or i need to do some work 1st? btw its an auto tranny

^hoss i sure if your donkey cart could pass the scrutineering you could run with it :lol:
lots of dexers started out in slow arse auto cars, and alot of ppl still participate with 'slow' automatic cars.
its probably good that you start out like this, that way you wont soend blindly on upgrades that probably wont help you or wont help you much in dex, starting stock means you get to see what areas in your opinion and to your driving style need uprading or changing.
and modding like this will help you understand your car and its dynamics much better, eg. you run a couple times and find that you're getting too much understeer, so you decide to get a slightly thicker rear anti-roll bar to help neutralise it a bit/add some oversteer.

well i wasnt completely lost with what u said so thanks. just d over and understeer topic, no matter how much i read about it i cant fully understand it. i guess thats one of the things in life that u have to experience to understand (i soundin like ah old man dey)

^not really, just picture you are on a track/road, negotiating a "gentle" right hand corner, you begin turning into the corner and the car feels like instead of following the flow of the corner, its pulling away towards the outside of the corner/ away from the inside. Thats understeer.
Negotiating the same corner, if, while turning the car feels like its going to "spin out" (i.e. the rear end is sliding around) thats oversteer. Basically thats probably as plain and simple as you can get.

But yes, experiencing it first hand helps with grasping the dynamics of what really goes on.

This comment in no way meant to trivialize the topic - if you've ever read the booklet that comes with the first Gran Turismo for PS1 it gives a pretty good explanation of how diff cars handle with respect to engine placement, front wheel / rear wheel / awd, braking into corners with each, exiting etc.
