Cool. Good prices.

Unfortunately, I had to buy one which will qualify SCCA's requirements (both local, regional and national events).

Plus Bell is good stuff.

moti, i use to use those. they could work. but the ridges on the top actually helps break wind resistance. so it may bump you up a class or two

saltydog wrote:As most of you know the rules are in the process of being updated and revised for the 2009 season. This has been long in coming and was supposed to be done last year. there are a few things still to be sorted out but for sure some of the things to come are

(1) Helmets are manditory.
(2) victor racers are a class bump

more to follow

Salty, just curious, what is the rationale / justification for making Victors a mod this year?

This is something that has always been the hardest thing to decide on for the rules.

For a few years Race tyres were a class bump, however when they got to be cheap and easily accessible to was deemed to be an allowable mod (bumping everyone did not make sense).

The tyres are the best handling improvment you can make to your car. Race tyres now are very limited in supply (if you can get them at all) and the prices have sky rocketed, meaning only a few will be able to afford them. This will put the advantage in the hands of those with enough money to buy race tyres.

So again we have brought back the rule, any tyre with a treadwear rating of 140 or below is deemed to be a race tyre and attracts a class bump, this way we even out the playing field for those that cannot get tyres, and those that have just move up and battle in the higher class.

Actually you mean under 140 right? There are normal oem tyres made by bridgestone that are 140 rated.
