I judged all rookie and amateuer classes

nathan's car has been showing its age for the last 2 years now and he knows that but is not ready to commit to a new rebuild as yet

scott's score is only that high based on install pts s he took advantage of the install rules for 2010 which was unlimited
from 2011 there is now a cap

louis vehicle was one of the best sounding for the show

there was a vw bug that was very impressive on staging and imaging

the lone trini screwed up with first time jitters and lost his settings on the deck and only realised after he was judged by 2 different judges

listend to his car a week after and there was much improvement he would have moved up at least 4 places

I think he was referring to your comment about the age of Nathan's car and the effect of the car's age on the score.

in my defence my sirius tuner that connects between the headunit and processor via ai-net went bad ...i dunno how or why it chose to do that then.. so i took apart the dash and turned off the circuit breaker to cut power to all my equipment in the car..that i beleived reset the settings but i was just in a rush to get judged i forgot that completely as it took me almost 2hrs to diagnose the problem and put back by dash together

i just wanted it to work so i just turned up the volume a slight bit and was like ok it playing completely forgetitng to check my settings..

but next year hopefullly if i requalify for inac im not expecting to win but definitely give a better showing.. an i already started my tweaking and tuning

Actually, you judged the SBN Rookie and Amateur clases. I judged the INAC Rookie and Amateur classes.

I agree that Louis had one of the best sounding cars there overall. The Hertz Pickup truck was one of the best tonally sounding vehicles that I heard there that year.

The VW Bug and Chris Pates Civic had the best imaging and staging. If I'm not mistaken I believe that Pate got a perfect score for imaging.

I don't have any pics of that setup. It was a stealth install. The vehicle pretty much looked stock except for a couple of tweets on the dash and the DRC in the overhead console.

How is it possible to get such low SQ scores? For the guys that placed in the lower halves of the standings in Pro/Am and especially that Expert competitor.

Major blunders on the day?

You know there's nothing to be ashamed of with a low score, however, if you consistently get low scores...well

164 in Expert tho...hmmm

^^^Hadda be some kinda system problem I would guess. T&T judges wouldn't have judged him, so we really have to wonder.

I listened to Natan's system again this year. THe response from the system is the same as it was in the years past, but doesn't sound as good. His car is a daily driver, and from the last demo I got with him in the car, he listens to music loud. This would explain wear on the drivers. He hasn't done anything with the vehicle as his time is spent focused on the VW Fender systems.

WRT to the low expert score. I don't know why the car was scored the way it was. I listened to that car last year but not this year. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. From what I'm seeing the only difference in the system is the processor. The car had a Bit One last year, but I guess since they are JBL sponsored he was 'forced' into using an MS-8. The install is very very nice though.

i lsitrnd to his car in years past for competition and listend to it last year and it didnt ipress last year

as sully said he is one of the few top competitors who still drives his competition car daily and drove to sbn

i belive it was a 30 hr drive for him

he knows his system does sound as good as before but as sully said he has been spendign a lot of time in r&d with vw's new fender system

jeff, apparently he has improved from last year :?

He lost 30 odd points in sound from 2-3 years ago iirc. (he was doing 250 in SQC1 in 2009)
I guess he didn't tune as much as he used to for comps.

I honestly do not think that wear on the speakers would really explain his scores. These guys are heavily sponsored...They don't pay retail for stuff nor do they have to put up with wore out speakers just because they can't afford new ones.

I don't think that it's a matter of the money, it was the time. He said that the VW project has been taking up a lot of time, and there has been very little time to spend on his own vehicle. Also, Natan's front stage consists of Seas drivers, and he's JBL sponsored. The only items that he would gain sponsorship on would be his amplifiers and subs.
