International History of IASCA classes/judging

Postby silent_riot » August 24th, 2010, 1:18 pm

I'm interested in finding out about the history of IASCA classes in Sound Q over the past 15 years or so.

The reason I'm interested is because I think most of legends' installs back in the day may have been competing differently due to rule changes.

For example, the Speakerworks buick GN was said to be in the Pro category. Does this mean it was judged from one seat only? (As the Pro category is done today)
Same for Kimura's Legend, Bigg's Regal, etc.

What has changed on the IASCA scoresheets since then, and for which classes did those changes apply?

I'm just trying to put more perspective on those legendary installs I keep reading about.

If you can find old rule books from the time frames that you're referring to that will answer all the questions that you have. There are a couple people one the forum that may have a copy of the rule books through the years.

i will look for the copies of score sheets when i use to compete

the old sheet use to be one really long page
pro was single seat
ultimate/manufacturer class was the class with the most changes more so on install pts
the sound part of the score sheet hasnt changed much over the years nor the music tracks used to test it

Only change found so far: I got a scoresheet from 2006 and it shows a 10 point item "Realism" in the imaging section, which is not present nowadays.
Was Pro always one seat, i.e. even back in the days of those legends?
