Postby riadb » November 9th, 2008, 10:57 am

How do you guys check the exact cone area of a sub under Iasca regulations??

is it the driver Sd?? or is there a precise formula for calculating this??

For round woofers, if its a single 10, they use 10 inches (i.e. Area = pi*(10/2)^2). If its a single 12, they use 12 inches (i.e. Area = pi*(12/2)^2)....as simple as that.

If you are going to compete, I suggest you get a rulebook and study it. It will work to your advantage.

This is from the rulebook:

i doubt judges going to have time to measure each sub edge diameter to see if its 12" dead exact or 12.25 like how some subs r ...whether its 12.125 or 12.25 or whatever fraction they go by 12" ...

Don't forget that square woofers are different from round woofers! ie - A square 12 will be 144 sq. in. and a square 10 will be 100 sq. in.

correct because the slight difference in actual cone diameter etc will not take u over or under the present cone area categories
