IASCA SQC format now available from the next event

Postby SR » July 20th, 2008, 12:14 pm

The SQC (Sound Quality Challenge) format is judged and scored on Sound Quality only and is designed for those who focus on the sound quality of their vehicle, not necessarily the level of detail in the installation.

There are two Classes in SQC; single seat and two seat. This means that in the "single seat" there is only one judge evaluating the system sound from the driver's position and two judges in the left and right front seats in the "two seats". The single seat Class is designed for competitors in the Rookie, Amateur and Pro Classes, while the 2 seat Class is open to all Classes. Scoring is based on the IASCA judging criteria of; Tonal Accuracy, Sound Stage, Imaging, Sound Linearity, and Absence of Noise.

SQC is judged with the Official IASCA Sound Quality Reference CD, using the traditional IASCA Sound Quality score sheet

this will be a single seat judged category 1 class and open to both member and non members of iasca
non members will pay $50 more to compete
unfortunatly i will not allow members presently in the ultimate class to compete in this category as there will be no 2 seat judging until we complete our compliment of our iasca judging team

if you compete in regular iasca sq competition your scores from the sq side of the score sheet will also be used for the sqc competition so your car wont need to be judged twice

cant the same judge get up, walk around, and do the other side?

So, you are saying, that the ultimate class, that are 2 seat judged, would not be offered at non world record events because Iasca doesn't have 2 sq judges?

So SQC is only offered 1 seat because there is only 1 local sq judge..

to answer your question the utlimate class will be judged by one judge from both seats at non world record events

an average of both seats scoriing will be used for the final score

based on numerous request i am trying to open up this category with the limited resources we have however if this turns out to be a debate on what is allowed and whats not or cause too many queries the class will be withdrawn and reconsidered for the 2009 season

offering of this class is optional keep this in mind however i think its a good way to have others who are non member to compete in sound q as well as allow existing competitors in different classes to compete against eac other

at present however there is only 1 vehicle in the ultimate class and it is not feasable to have 2 classes open with only 1 vehicle in it

therefore we will only be offering the SQC1 category for amateur and pro class competitors

so what we need is at least another ultimate vehicle to compete to allow the opening up of the SQC2 class

I don't see why not, Especially under a situation like ours where there isn't a SQC for 2 seaters currently available.

This is great, guys. SQC is a great way to evaluate sound quality only without the necessity for install judging. SQC is the fastest growing class here in the States.
