Brake lights, clear coated with black

Postby S_Pollock » April 18th, 2022, 10:13 am

Hey tuners, need some info

I bought a car recently and the previous owner clear coated the brakes light with black. It's really black but you're seeing the brakes and indicators lights.

Wanna know if this is legal or not, don't wanna have any problems regarding the law.

If not, how do I remove it?

You will get jammed for it.
That will be very difficult to remove depending on how much coats they did.
You can try rubbing alcohol and lots of elbow grease. Thinner might render the plastic FUBAR.

Consider looking for replacements.

If it is just a clearcoat, you can use the same method that you would use for restoring headlights.

You can probably ask a detailer to more or less do the same that they would do for oxidized headlights... just for your taillights. Sand it, polish it and reseal it.

Body shop might also work

I sand and polish it, it's way better now.
