The reason why the sound is impressive is because the head has been completely redesigned. It no longer uses an OHV pushrod setup. Instead, it uses DOHC technology that the Japs like Toyota, Honda and Nissan have mastered quite in-depth. The engine breaths better, has a higher rpm threshold and reaches peak outputs faster. Honda engineers would be like, welcome to 1992 GM, you’re just 29 years behind. Nevertheless, it’s good stuff.

You forgot the biggest factor that no longer has it sounding like a rumbly V8. The flat plane crankshaft.
