MOTOR SPORTS IN TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO

Postby djaggs » January 28th, 2014, 1:55 pm

So its happening again.......motor racing in Trinidad is being run in mafia style. This is a sure fire way to turn away supporters and sponsors.....nice move guys. Run off your sponsors before it even gets going again. When an organization does not have leaders that know how to lead, corruption and intimidation is used to get things done. A good leader knows how to make people want to follow them, they do not have to resort to mafia style tactics. When your organization have people following you because they want to follow you, your organization will be super strong and unbreakable.

Is it too far fetched to consider diplomacy, tact, honesty, transparency, decency ??? These are words unknown in the business community and in political circles in this country and now also in the sporting industry.

Please read the opening comments over and over again. You will realize that Motorsport is in a crisis situation. One Drag event has already been previously canceled, and another that was scheduled for this weekend 8th & 9th Feb, has also been canceled.

The question should be, how do we fix this, rather than focus on only on the next event that may never happen anytime soon ??

True !! The Main Focus shouldn't be on Events but some sort of Regular Gathering of all Racers and Groups in One Place at the Same Time. Group heads will Set up a Date and lets see all who will be present and would not be. Make it clear that everyone who is a part of T&T Motorsport be there. Get media there and have a big Discussion and let Both big and small heads just talk our minds on things. It would need to be greatly planned. If this is not possible , well kiss T&T Motorsports azz goodbye folks...

Really?
If that's the case, how come 5 out of 7 bodies could come together and mutually work out a calendar?
And also assist in the bigger events, and each other?

Fortunately, those bodies under MATT sort your solution and were successful. Unfortunately, others eg: Drag Racers constantly stand divided, however all suffer a familiar struggle with the Governing Body for Motor racing. There is nothing to kiss goodbye, because we have nothing. We are also not demanding anything more.

A temporary venue with allotted dates is the solution to keep you politically QUIET, so you don't ask for more. Go figure ??

FYI
Three Autosport NGB's
http://www.sport.gov.tt/sport-organisations/national-governing-bodies

And the national sport policy which TTASA is not adhering too, especially with their member's convenient interference.
http://www.sport.gov.tt/images/pdf/programmes/national_sport_policy.pdf

http://www.sport.gov.tt/sport-organisations/national-governing-bodies
Most sports in Trinidad and Tobago are governed by a national representative body, which is affiliated to an international body. For example, the NGB for football is the Trinidad and Tobago Football Federation, which is affiliated to FIFA.

NGBs are responsible for the administration of the sport/discipline in the country, including development and community activities, coach development and elite athlete identification and grooming. NGBs are the local repository for all information about a particular sport.

NGBs can fall either under the purview of the Ministry of Sport or the Sport Company of Trinidad and Tobago

TTASA can be the NGB for circuit, if they even have original records of that.

Sad to see that the selfishness and Overgrown Egos of a few Individuals in this country can spoil and devastate the growing and nurturing of the younger generations in a sport.

Really is a shame when politics and ignorance raise their heads in Sporting......... all to the decay of the nations willing and talented youngsters.

You have stated more than a mouth full, considering that (3) sporting individuals from Karting, Rally, and Drags, recently received awards from the Governing Body for Motorsport. What is interesting is that they do not recognise any of the organisations in which those (3) drivers aspired to achieve the status, and we could only guess who allegedly has been behind pulling the plug on a series of recent events.

Soo... The way things are going there will be no drivers to give an award too next year. Instead of de-motivating the young drivers, just take them out back and put a gun to their head, same thing.

TTASA is the only NGB for Motorsport in general anointed by parliament and also affiliated to the FIA.

The only other body linked to the FIA is the TTAA for mobility, this falls under all motorized vehicles on the road.

Rally and Karting were NSO's but this status was taken away by the Ministry some years ago.

Drag And Wind #2 Update Event 16th February now cancelled.

So after submitting the required application to stage ARA’s D&W #2 on Sunday 16th February, no response…. and obviously this will also be now listed amongst Motor Sport Events cancelled for 2014. We shall continue to pursue this matter.

For those who were not around in April 2011, the first refusal to stage the AGP in Easter 2011 was because we were blocking in residents – at apartments that were not even occupied! This was shown to be untrue.

The second refusal was because the Police did not realize there was going to be Drag Racing, even though this was clearly stated in the original application.

The third and final reason for refusal was … “I cannot give you permission to race on the road and break the speed limit”.

TTKA also tried unsuccessfully to have a meeting to discuss their situation that unfolded on Sunday 9th Feb. at ARC, with no luck. Simply told to submit an application for the staging of their next Event.

^ ^ ^ DUMB MOVE! That's exactly what the idiot wants... an excuse for a lawsuit for libel... and more media coverage for his dotish agenda... TO PREVENT THE UNIFICATION OF ALL MOTORSPORT BODIES!... unless he is the overall "President" of course... It's all about ego, "status" and $$$$... BIG $$$.

Call names and play right into his hands. Not me. If my suspicions are correct, that idiot is too dumb to trip me up that way.

So in the mean time those of us wishing to start eager new comers in Karting have to suffer and tell our kids that because of ONE greddy idiot you cannot participate ???

Are there going to be ANY KARTING events for this year?

The motorsport world ISN'T karting alone, my friend. Same applies to D&W... 'dex etc.
Give it a little time, panda. Those really in the know seem to have a solution to it soon.
