Old skool superbikes in Trinidad, early 80's...

Just find this forum here, love the site so far. Really liked the threads with all them old pics from in the day. Not seeing too much history on the bike scene though. Apparently in the 70's and early 80's bikers ruled the highways of TnT. Found these in my albums and thought I would share, maybe someone out there knows where these bikes went or might know the owners.

This was a Suzuki show organized by my father and his friends to bring the bikers to Central....the location was the KFC in Chaguanas by the flyover. Show had a real good turnout. Sometime in the early 80's, maybe 1982.

Kawasaki, Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda, Norton, Triumph....lot of now classic bikes in clean condition and modified to run. The blue KAW, the '77 z1000 was my father's bike. Quite a few felllas riding at that time from POS to San Fernando was slaughtered trying to run that machine.

back in those days L&D were selling Yamaha bikes like bread........there are still some bikes around from that era, and even before.....
few months ago i saw a 1950's BSA 125 by the mechanic.....the owner had it for about 15 years and never heard it start, until he brought it to the mechanic.......it was not in the best shape, but its a classic non the less.......
older bikes tend to be a lot more difficult to find simply because they don't run as long as cars and well the older ones were not known to be road hugging machines......

is that a cbx? never saw one of those 6 cylinder bikes........

Great thread I had a Yamaha RS 125 in the 80's ( Crashed it ) and my Friend got a BSA in parts we were going to build it he also had a Ole school Zuki 750 as a daily rider well his father was doing some renovations on the house and the Bike parts were in his way well its all in the foundation of the extension .

Yep, that is a CBX1000...Honda inline six cylinder. Sounds like a jet fighter, I checked them out on youtube. The old man says there was at least 2 or 3 he ran into back then. Where they are now, who knows.

Ruff, he sold that bike when I was born. I'll have to ask him, but if I remember right, it was drag raced by the next owners. No idea where it went after that, but I would love to know if it survived myself.

there was a cbx1000 in arima in the 80's , was ridden hard then sold as the owner migrated
i owned a honda 550 fourke in those days.... another pal owned '' the HULK'' GS 1000 Suzuki took 3 1/2 minutes arima to valencia.....tears in d eyes

100+ hp was a lot back then on a bike

Whether its bike or car or 4x4 a motorhead is a motorhead lol. Im glad you enjoyed the pics, they have been in a bag for bout 30 years.

Some of the stories crackin me up. I have some video too, if some of yall never hear what them bikes sound like. We had a green 78 kz1000 for a lil while (first video)....and we just find a stock 77 gs750 the other day. If you have some bass on your stereo, turn it up and enjoy the sounds :mrgreen:

And a lil video....the gas tank have a lil rust inside so its off getting cleaned. Dont mind the temp setup there hehe. Couldnt not ride it :mrgreen:

If you thought the CBX was bad.....Trinidad also had one of these turbo kawasakis. The TC, or Black Molly. Ole man say this was the fastest damn bike he ever ride and he been on the CBX too. Only 300 in the world ever produced.

I believe its still around but parked up somewhere in Central. Problem with the turbo and early injected Kaws is they're difficult to keep running because of aged electronics and very limited availability of parts.

P.S. Is the GS750 for sale?

Ruff, its not right now but if it ever does you got first dibs man. And you're right...I hear it was a problem with the early gpz's. People switched out for carbs instead.

Not familiar with Chain Brain...whats the story on that?

Deliah, haha...sorta. I ended up on 4 wheels, you can see my rides below. I learned on the green kz1000 though. The gs750 is mine, and I looking for another 1000 for the ole man.

Felt like sharing this. The bikeman in Central (early 70's) before the big bikes come out to play was called "Santa" and he had the exact one below, a 1972 Honda CB350 in candy gold. Sold it last year tho.

There was a white CBX1000 Pro-Link model (1982) that was owned by the now president of the T&T zoological society, Gupte Lutchmedial. Coming to think of it, he still owns it! This bike was considered a monster back in the days, when compared to other bikes of it's time. BTW, anyone remember the motorcycle stunt show that was held in Aranguez savanna back in the 80's?
