Local drag racer Rishi Kanick leaves today to attend the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) closing season drag racing event in Las Vegas, United States. Kanick heads out to support his colleague Sidnei Frigo, Brazil’s top drag racer, who is expected to run away with a number of titles. Kanick shared that Frigo invited him to join his race team for the 2012 NHRA Circuit. “I am very excited and I am looking forward to working with Mr Frigo next year, the experience I would gain would be invaluable.”
Kanick indicated that he has plans to take on Sheldon Bissessar, a local and international drag racing champion, in a grudge match. Kanick stated that he has sent out an open invitation to Bissessar to challenge him in December in Florida. He plans on racing an “A-Fuel” racer should Bissessar decide to take up the challenge. Kanick and Bissessar never raced against each other on a local track. Thirty-nine-year-old Kanick of Enterprise, Chaguanas, who has been racing for the past six years, declared that only fractions of a second separates him from Bissessar’s record. Bissessar’s local record time is 6.80 seconds while Kanick’s best time is 6.90 seconds.
