Good Lord...

Postby greall » September 22nd, 2011, 7:59 am

I decided that it's time for a newer ride [currently rock a Mitsu Libero] so I've been gauging input from fellow drivers and mechs as per what type of car that they'd consider.

Heaven help me but it's a list of complaints about every type of car other than Nissan and Toyota.

'Kia,Hyundai and Mazda have no resale value...'
'Honda is hell to get parts...'
'Ford is a headache...'
'Don't waste your money on Subaru and Suzuki...'
'I don't like European cars...'
'Mitsubishi has good cars but the parts are expensive and they're very problematic...'

All that I can/could do is be in awe and ask:do mechs prefer working on certain cars?

evo, canter & rosa thats about that when it comes to Mitsubishi eh

and these days with the brakes/bearing problems that the Rosa's are facing they seam to be a tad bit on the inferior side.

That's all that I could say after hearing these guys and gals...

Seriously, you'd think that they'd run you if they saw you in a car other than a Nissan or Toyota...

it's all up to your choice in the end.

first you need to have a budget
then you will know what the market has that you can afford

then we can compare as to what will be a good buy/bang for your buck

see i can't tell you that a toyota prado is a good suv when your budget only allows you to buy a yaris

understand?

I'd have to agree with the above mentioned statement^^, Toyota vehicles usually have a good resale value as well as Nissan,I mean look at the price the B14 still carrying.

As a former B14 owner I would say once it was well kept it's worth every penny.

I would save a little more and try for a NZE corolla, although I don't know why I'm seeing PBP series selling for 60k go up,but it's still a good vehicle and it's worth it.

My thing is that I need a vehicle to survive the roads that I drive on as a field sales rep...

btw you lookign at a new car or used?

if new, the tiida's give a nice ride - especially if you have to drive a lot that could count for something

I thought Scoobies were supposed to be ultra reliable? What about a Forester or a Legacy? IMHO if you pay a little out of the nose for one but don't have to worry too much about fixing it any time in the near future, it might be worth it.

The LAST thing you want to do is buy a cheap 'lemon'. Trust me; I bought a 1996 Rav 4 for a reasonable price and in the year I've owned it I've gotten to know my mechanic, and loan officer pretty well. If it costs more it probably is worth it, most of the time anyway.
