I have a 3dr 2007 Grand Vitara that has the same m16a engine and a 5spd gearbox with the awd drive train. The sgv is 3000lbs and pulls quite well, just as fast as other econobox cars on the road and is very good on fuel.
The 2016 awd vitara is 2600lbs, which is lighter and may perform better. I believe the m16a engine is now more refined as well for 2016. The 6spd auto should help transfer the power nicely.

Same feats, same engine and more room inside including trunk space and it's the same price I think for the 2wd version i.e. 205k. With more job loss expected for 2016, I think we are going to see more competitively priced vehicles.
