S Cross is not available in 4WD. Probably the S Cross may cut into the 2WD Vitara's sales if they are indeed bringing 2WD Vitaras.

I really have no idea why people buy a 2WD "SUV" when they could just buy a Wingroad, AD Wagon or Fielder for less money and the same functionality. Someone explain this to me please. Thanks.

I don't get why people buy 4wd suvs to drive on the road every day. Just adding extra maintenance for absolutely no reason. Worse gas mileage more weight more maintenance for no reason

An SUV has better ground clearance and better visibility. Better visibility increases safety in my book.
A 2wd SUV has similar maintenance costs to a car.
A 4wd SUV is unnecessary if its going to see road duty most of the time. Even with 4wd, road tyres mean very little on our clay once wet. No dispute that a 4wd requires extra maintenence.
SUVs tend to require less in the way of tyres and suspension, and larger tyres are better able to bridge potholes.

Hence why I don't get why people buy 4wd suvs and get on like they have to have 4wd.

Btw their first tyre replacement is the cheapest tyre they could find because they can't afford the replacement cost of a sub sized tyre

There's no need to find logic in everything. Maybe they just wanted a suv. Just like how it look

Yeah.. SUVs are more of a fashion statement rather than function for most of the consumers who actually own one. As someone mentioned before, people like the higher seating position and the perceived 'superior' safety of SUVs and crossovers.

Unfortunately the new Mazda 3 we get down here from Southern Sales does not have the SkyActiv engine its using a 1.6 which seems to be very similar to the old Mazda/Ford engine that was used on the old model. However you can jump out on the 6 (approx 285,000 for base model) and get the 2L SkyActiv....

No surprise there really  . We get the skyactiv body... As a friend put it what they selling is tantamount to the old Mazda 3 with a paint job and a body kit.

^^ How much you heard ?

525 isn't bad I guess. A little pricey for a Ford...

But it's cheaper than an A5 2.0t and 370Z. Not sure of 4 series and C class coupe pricing..

So Mr. Cadogan from auto xpert brought up the reality that the new tucson in rhd fared worse in crash tests than its lhd counterpart. This doesn't sound good for early adopters of the new tucson locally but I think it's dependent on where the unit is built.

The safety features on the new tucson that we get is really poor except for the high end model.
No blind spot detection, no ESP, no reverse camera, no DRL and only two airbags.

Massy did the same thing with the Qashqai, most of the safety systems are only on the high end model.

All those features weren't even standard 5-10 years ago. I was thinking you were gonna say cabin integrity or side impact etc etc

Yeah well with that kind of logic no wonder dealers keep bringing in cars with fewer features for you to buy. Two airbags in 2015? Heck a lancer comes with more than 2 and it's been out nearly 8 years now.

Clearly some Trinis care more about appearance and 'flams', so to speak, than the safety of themselves and/or their family because the amount I've seen on the road since it was released..with such a poor rating.. :(

Poor safety rating only just came out! Before that all the car critics have been saying ... buy buy buy!!!

Hyundai also says they are working on it, only the driver footwell needs to be fixed. Revised version should be out in a few months.

One shouldn't point out a specific vehicle when mentioning those features though. Not like it's standard for the rest. No blind spot detection in the jetta either although it's probably a safer vehicle still.

What is it about blind spot detection dat does rile you up so much metal? I also mentioned DRL and reverse camera's which aren't standard on most cars as well. How come you didn't dedicate two posts to those features as well?

Once the car looking bess, and affordable, Trini ppl would buy. Which the Tucson is.
Nobody cares about safety ratings. Heck, I'm sure most people don't know what stability control and ABS is.

Rile up? Reverse cams and drl are becoming more common these days.
