So i was checking out the specs of the Qashqai on nissantt.com, Im confused by the engine specs in terms of HP for the MR20 manual vs the CVT, but I'm not sure, they say the manual trans HP figure is 140 ps, which shud be at 139, but the cvt mr20 is 270?!! i thought it was a typo but the valves per cyclinder is 16 for the manual and 24 for the cvt, im sure nissan doesn't have a mr20 v6 and the turbo is the 1.6 from the juke which only goes up to 190 max.

I just wanna make sure before i get my hopes up, link below.

They have taken info from some other country website just like all the other car companies here and not adjust for the models we actually getting. AFAIK Massy only has two versions of the Qashqai here both 2.0l CVT one 2x4 one 4x4.

did some math (using bore and stroke)
most likely the spec they listed is for a v6 3.5 litre engine
i have never seen a six valve per cylinder engine...mainstream at present is 4 per cylinder

cleaner....definitely gasoline in trinidad

while tyres have a part to play with regards to stopping a vehicle, if the accompanying hardware is weak or beyond its optimum, stopping distances will still be poor. In this case tyres will most likely be the last thing to look at as I do not believe that the brake setup is easily overwhelming the tyres (read locking up the tyres or activating the abs at every stop)
Might look at trying different brake pads or going through a bedding in procedure for new pads.
New Pads usually are poor at stopping the vehicle until properly bedded in.

Might look at going with DOT 4 or 5.1 brake fluid; this isn't really going to do much unless you are pushing it hard everywhere and excessive heat is the cause of the extended stopping distances

bigger servo maybe.

Saw the new hilux about two weeks ago. Black, tdj** plates.
I examined it closer when it was parked up.
Looks ugly from all sides.

Why is it so expensive. It's already coming with a smaller engine than all is competitors.
What feature does it have that commands that kind of premium over its rivals.

Euro are always priced higher than comparable vehicles. Just because premium.

But what suspension does the rear have? Coils

Most of the below are the basic to mid featured models, fully loaded in almost all the below will run you in the +$200,000 range

Honda Civic
Kia Cerato
Hyundai Elantra
Mazda 3
Ford Focus
Toyota Corolla

off the top of my head...

I'd say Elantra.
Personally I find it's the best all-rounder for that price point.

Mazda 3 or Ford Focus. Elantra styling is garbage. Won't age well imo.

The Mazda 3 is pretty nice. I think the only potential problem with the Ford Focus is it requires premium fuel. That is a concern for some.

In most cases, the correct answer would be "better than we used to be, not good enough."

Who's consistently at the top? Hyundai and Kia. Everything that company does is beautifully executed, thanks to the efforts of head designer Peter Schreyer. If I were running a major car company, I would poach him at whatever the cost. If he said he makes $1.5 million, I'd offer him $3 million. If he wanted a summer home on Lake Michigan and guaranteed bonus every year, I'd sign off on it with a smile on my face. That's how important outstanding design is for modern car companies. I'm guessing GM vice president of design Ed Welburn's total compensation is probably just over $1 million, including bonuses and accounting for inflation over the last five years, but a top designer at one of the world's largest automakers should be earning way more than that. GM has about $156 billion in sales, globally. Why obsess over paying the right designer $5 million a year? . . .

Yeah all well and good but Peter Schreyer designed for KIA initially and didn't work on the Hyundai Elantra currently for sale. This just reinforces my point about the current styling not aging well/garbage. I agree with Bob Lutz in that he has done good things for Kia. The 2010 Kia Koup for example was a head turner.

Also lo and behold Peter Schreyer becomes design chief of both kia and Hyundai in 2012 and the newly designed Elantra coming to Trinidad NEXT year has a grille resembling that of an Audi.

Mazda 3 & Ford Focus, while both great cars, will suffer when it comes to resale.
Elantra is "the flick" now.
