greggle, the 4x2 Qashqai is $255k. It has smaller 17" rims, fabric seats, no glass roof and no power driver seat. They both have electric hand brakes though.

drchaos, it doesn't stop there..see below:

Grand Vitara 2.0 138hp and 183Nm torque
CRV 2.0 153hp and 192Nm
RAV4 2.0 143hp and 187Nm
CX5 2.0 153hp and 200Nm
Tucson/Sportage 2.0 164hp and 197Nm
ASX 2.0 147hp and 197Nm
Outlander 2.0 147hp and 190Nm
Forester 2.0 147hp and 198Nm
Kuga 1.6T 180hp and 240Nm
Tiguan 2.0TFSI 177hp or 207hp and 280Nm

generally unimpressive specs except for the 2 turbo ones

The versa is hands down the best buy on the market nowadays.
Great price for an appliance that gets the job of a to b travel done.
149k for 5 years no stress is great

Don't they still have the tiida hatch brand new from the firm?
I honestly can't stand the look of the versa sedan
As regards the power from the 2.0L powerplants.... This is the result of companies meeting stricter emission regulations as well as manufacturing cost savings. It is indeed a bit sad. ... but you can probably breathe easier

tiida sells in droves and they ugly too

for 95% of drivers the versa is perfect. in fact i would recommend the versa to anyone looking for a commuter car.
it lacks bells and whistles but the interior is rather spacious and the trunk is huge considering the size of the car.

I wouldn't even compare a Tiida to a Versa. The Versa is that disgusting to me.

From an objective point if view I can agree with the rest of your point A to B post.

There isn't much rear headroom in the Versa as compared with the Tiida.

cinco, I agree with you there. The versa is a good car imo. It looks a bit bonkers but it does its job. I had one for a week, and it wasnt bad. Rides great, good on gas, comfortable, spacious, plenty trunk space. If somebody looking for something to get from home to work and back, make grocery runs etc it fits the bill.
I'd still buy a zuki SX4 though for 3k more.

The Suzuki SX4 is 3k more than the Versa aidan? If so, the SX4 should be $152k then? Anyway, I am impressed with the safety cage in said SX4. Take a look at the orange looking one that crashed and is now in front the Couva Police Station. The rear is all bent and twisted up especially the back left quarter panel leading to the subframe which got squeezed but the passenger cell itself maintained some integrity. I guess being designed in Italy is a plus for would-be buyers.

I would consider an accent or Rio over a versa anyday

I guess the reason why we see plenty of these Versa's is due to affordability. @ 149k the monthly installment would be $1927. a month for 7 years. Given the 40% TDSR rule for taking out loans it means anyone who works for $4800 a month can purchase said Versa for at least 10% dp of $14,900.

You would expect cheapness from Hyundai and Kia but certainly not Nissan.

I can't imagine the guy that styled the versa.

Rocking back in his chair looking at his image.

"Guys..... I've done it."

Cheapness in what regard?
The versa's interior looks cheaper and alot more basic compared to the rio and accent.
Cant compare how it drives because no way im gonna be seen driving something so hideous.

I saw what looked like a Kia Rio hatchback with a nice flare kit.
It look really good, it's the only one like that i have ever seen. Always saw the sedan.

:| Since Renault took a majority shareholding in Nissan and Carlos Ghosn had to plot a course for Nissan to return to profitability, all Nissans, save one or two models, just wreak of cheapness.

The SX4 sedan was my "Ugliest Car from the Showroom" title holder before the Versa came along....... :|

*pukes in mouth

As said before. I'd rather pay a lil more for something that can make me smile when I look at it.
I mean, can't be approaching my Versa with my eyes closed right thru......

all this hate on the Versa and SX4 is cracking me up here lol

The Americans however seemed to have envied the ugliness found in recent Toyota's, Honda's, Nissan's etc..and it gathered a lot of forum talk and discussion. Free marketing I guess so GM decided to take front with the 2014 Optra available for some eastern countries including Egypt. A new Optra :|

But we need to pray for VW....the next Jetta based on concept pictures I saw SHOULD be full of win.

No worries. If VW messes up just skip to another brand. Too many brands out there to just stick to one all the time.

:? Wait, VW makes good looking cars? Since when? The Jetta is so boring to look at. The Passat is just a bigger, just as boring, Jetta.

The new Cruze front end looks very similar to the Ford fiesta
