It have some real displacement snobs here boy.

A 1.2L engine on a small car light car does not have to mean the car is sluggish.
Lots of super minis in the uk that have adequate power with 1.2 and 1.0L engines.

Its all about HP to weight ratio.

I love gobs of power and torque.....something a 1.4 or lower will be unable to do.

I accept what you guys saying about smaller engines giving you power and can handle their own. But I personally like slightly bigger engines. You guys have any info on the Range rover evoque....packages, prices? Thinking about purchasing one.

Well good. Very nice ride, ive seen it in person.

Coming from the steering and engine response of a Cayman, coupled with the fact that the price of premium may not be an issue for you, not everyone buys a car for pikes peak hill climbs or drag and wind events.

Besides, 1.2 engines will be put in lightweight chassis to preserve a respectable power to weight ratio which means base hp and torque becomes a non issue.

can't afford a LR under this regime. When the PNM returns I'll consider the evoque for starters.

Not so fast Dave, that chevy motor is an Opel 1.4 turbo with overboost up to 220Nm torque. In other words it has the torque similar to a 2.2 - 2.3L engine. Rumour has it these turbo 4's will be here soon replacing the 1.8

Good thing with the smaller engines is better mpg.
I remember in top gear with the small hatches they were averaging 51 mpg

Daz joke. There's a new Volvo estate hybrid that's averaging 155 mpg with a combined diesel and electric motor making about 220hp and top speed about 147mph. Best of both worlds. Very Efficient and reasonably quick. Only thing is that it's pretty pricey and not that good looking.

Dat is a even bigger joke. There is a new volkswagen (xl1) that averages 260 mpg or 0.9L per 100km and its as fast as a corolla! Looks like sheit tho!

But hey 5000 km on a tank of gas ... i wouldn't complain about the looks. Fill the tank 3 to 4 times for the year!

No sunroof, 16 inch wheels vs your 17, single CD player as opposed to the 6 cd changer in yours, no cruise control based on the specs mammoo just posted.

Not a bad trim offering at a lower price. Puts it squarely in the mix between cerato, new 3, corolla, Cruze, elantra. Downside is it uses premium. Upside is that it's basically the fastest new car for 210k.
