I'm interested in seeing the 2nd gen 3.7 V6 model run against the turbo Optima/Sonata.

Thanks. My 6 was the V6 5speed model. Comparing the 1st gen 6 to the Optima, I'd take the Optima anyday, everyday. It's sporty and luxury wrapped up in one package.

why would it matter comparing a first gen 6 which is about 10 yrs old to a new optima?

I am more interested in the handling, steering response and overall drive feel. I drove a local Optima 2.0 just recently and I found it inferior to the as you put it 10 yrs old mazda 6. Perhaps the USDM 2.0 turbo is a whole different ball game vs our non turbo available here.

The 6 had Racingbeat swaybars, AWR endlinks and was sitting on Megan COs. She rode on rails. As of right now, the Optima is only sitting on Eibach lowering springs. Ku nd of hard to compare them. I will say that even though the Optima is just on lowering springs, she handles exceptionally well.

^^^would your motor be the same as in the Genesis 2.0T? I understand it has roots from the Mitsubishi EVO X? If so then you have excellent potential more so than the mazdaspeed 6.

The n/a Optima in the US is a 2.4 rated at 200hp... the 2.0 we get is the 2.0t rated at 274hp, same as the Hyundai Sonata.

It's been going really good. Installed a Prosport OCC the other day. Just waiting on my Injen intake to arrive then onto exhaust.

Would the dealer void your warranty if/when they see these upgrades? Also if you do your own servicing/oil changes would it also void warranty?

Let's just say that it pays to be on the Service Manager's good side. And to answer your other question, we have a '12 SX 2.0t w/72k miles on it. Motor sludged to hell and back. Aftermarket oil filter on it. Kia is not covering the engine. Sucks for that customer.
