Ace defined what I mean by "true" sport. I thought that would be understood. We get vehicles that look sporty but are not sports vehicles/cars. WE pay for looks rather than performance.

Because they most of the time don't bring the sports options/packages.

That's why most people have to bring in their own either new or Roro.

One man's true sport is another man's yawn. That's why I asked. I wouldn't put the Jetta in the true sport category myself.

There are probably more Swift Sports on the road than regular swifts... if someone from Lifestyle happens to be on tuner they can confirm

Confused by the "true sports" comment, this was the fastest version of the car that the MANUFACTURER produced, Lifestyle actually brought their brand's FASTEST model... probably the only local seller to do that... not their fault it wasn't very fast to begin with :|

Proper sporty cars not only fast they have stiff suspensions which is a pain to drive on our roads. The jetta suspension stiffer than a corolla but not in sports territory. Go over a pot hole and you does feel it thru the whole car.

SO thats another reason they probably think that they wont sell that well.

First, I'm going to apologise in advance for an another bit of a "rant" about Toyota and their car offerings.

I was looking at the Toyota FJ Cruiser for $612,000. So let me start, I understand with a 4.0L engine that the engine tax attracted will be high.

But Toyota Trinidad & Tobago please can you stop advertising car spec like:
- Driver & Passenger seat belts
- Rear Seat Belt
- Speedometer with Tachometer
- Digital Clock
- Sun-visors
Along with many other basic things...

I mean really I'm considering a $600k+ car and you're telling me about seat belts and a clock? Really Toyota? Really? It's almost insulting and the sales reps smug faces and "It's a Toyota" attitude doesn't help.

Toyota always makes me feel I'm being ripped off. I can sort of expect to get basics in a Yaris but, not in 600K SUV.

I'm sure it's a capable offroader being able to take you places where an Audi Q5 or Mercedes Benz ML350 could ever take you but at least give me leather and some other comfort features to make me feel I'm getting something a little premium.

*Rant over*

Back to more interesting things like what is considered a fast car, super car, damn slow etc :D

I never knew Toyota had such a vehicle. But at that price point, who spending their money on a Toyota? I going Audi, Mercedes or BMW and spend my hard earned money.

I didn't drive it. Did sit in it though. The interior... was basic. The rear visibility... don't think I have ever seen something so bad, would need a back up camera and parking sensors for sure.

Well they have some people buying it. At any price point I wouldn't be buying a Toyota, there is just no value for money. Yaris, I would rather a Accent or Rio and save money too. Corolla, I would take Cerato, Octavia, Jetta. Same for the RAV4 would with no hesitation choose a competitor Tiguan, Sportage, Kuga.

The Accord SiR 3.5 VTEC V6 deserves some attention though with that amount of coin. Trust me, that aint no typical Jap and I can't believe I just said that.

There is a perception that euros are more expensive/difficult to maintain, that is the MAIN reason that Trinis don't buy them (and their resale is crap)

Euros are expensive to maintain, but their resale value holds well however. Resale value was something to note 20 or so years ago, when your options were limited and your father and grandfather drove a "Toyota". But now with the features and the improvement with a lot of brands, people are buying a lot of other brands second hand besides the Japanese. Expensive...yes, poor resale...no

Scotty, for the size of the vehicle and the equipment listing not to mention the power you get the Accord is def a strong contender in the half-mil class. If we use brand perception to the accord's advantage coupled with resale value and the virtues mentioned above, it presents itself as a good package for European cross shopping. To get over 270HP in a German car for $500k is next to impossible brand new. So that's why I say the accord should get some attention in that class. For those who think I went rogue on the Euros no I did not because this is not a comparison on a fwd sedan vs rwd giants like a 5-series or e-class.

oh and another thing, Allergic you may not consider 8.4s to 100kmph as true sport since the Jetta TSI falls within this time however we acknowledge times have changed as vehicles got faster over the years. One must consider though that the original Aston Martin DB5 like the one used in the James Bond films report a similar acceleration and 1/4 times and this is a British sports car. Even the original Datsun 240 and 260 couldn't report those times. The famous 323 GTX has a similar time as well as the MX3 V6 and the original Miata is actually slower. Lastly the first gen RX-7 GSL edition posted almost the same. Here's some from Toyota with similar performance: 94' Celica GT and 84 Supra.

If you maintain that this is not sport then would this suffice?

Sports
4.5 - 6.4s

Exotic / Supercar
2.5 - 4.4s

Pretty much all modern day cars with some flavor of sport can post a time in those cats above.
To each their own and I can respect that.

Sadly the new Mazda 5 will probably come with the 1.5L motor. Only 99 bhp, 10.7 seconds to 0 to 60
