Using the Tesla Model S as the subject, there's a calculator at the end of the page.

http://www.ttec.co.tt/services/tariffs/default.htm
Using the highest bracket of $0.37 per kWH, I plotted that into the calculator.

A car running on super and doing 30 mpg actually uses less gas than this car uses electricity :|

Over 1000 kWh is when that $0.37 charge would occur. You'd have to work out the charge for 1-400 and 401 - 1000 before using that $0.37 charge if you crossed the 1000 kWh.

I tried the calculator and got the opposite in that it seems cheaper to operate on electricity than super even if using the highest residential tariff from T&TEC. I used 30 mpg, US$1.58 per gallon of super and US$ 0.06 per kWh of T&TEC electricity. It was 1/3 the cost of running super. That's only going to get worse when the government moves the price of super upwards.

That's why I said using the highest bracket.
I have no idea how much kWh I use. So I just used the highest bracket to show the worst case scenario

Ok makes sense. I used your worst case figure too because I have no idea how much kWh the car would need too.

The Audi A3 sportback is $300K, but it is not coming with xenon lamps and DRL and led lights. You getting halogen. If you want the lights package it will cost you $320K. Audi is not bringing a 3 door A3 again, only the sportback version. It remains to be seen if the A3 sedan will make it here, i am thinking $350K, if it comes. The new E class Mercedes is $625K, with the AMG package it's $675K. Hope this info helps with some questions asked earlier

I wouldn't mind trying an electric car, if we were to get it here. It should be interesting. Trinidad is a small island, so the distances won't be ridiculous, like how the Americans use it...yet though they selling them and using them. I think it's an option to consider for the future.

I would love to own a tesla model s.
I'll park it next to my DBS, which will be between the Veyron SS and the Aventador.

Hopefully it could reach the plug passing around the X5m and the Q7 V12 TDI.

Then again, I could always leave room next to the Agera R and the Zonda F Roadster.

Confusion is where I will put the F50 when all this is done :-s

The two A3's they have listed now are 293k. And you're right about the features. If you stack them on, you'll be into A4 territory. I suspect the A3 won't survive just as before. Many will prefer to just pay a little more for the A4, even if it's the 120hp model.
Also, that 675k E class is with the panoramic roof I believe. Same as the model in the spotters thread.

well i for one wouldnt mind a specced up A3 over a base A4. the base A4 kinda dorky looking i find...the A3 is like a sexy golf...with more trunk space than the A4 as well...

The A3 sedan is a compact sports sedan, it will compete with the Mercedes CLA.

I would like your esteemed input tuners on what vehicle you suggest I should go for. Here are some details.

1. Budget 200 to 400k.
2. family of 4 (two kids under 5) may turn to family of five.
3. Not into popularity for bandits so I am leaning towards euro American etc.
4. Space in passenger seats important.
5. Want something understated and doesn't shout " money oye".. ie no...Mercedes, Audi BMW.
6. Safety features... It'll be on the road everyday (500km per week) so reliability and crash safety are tops too.
7. Prefer sedan to SUV.

Hopes I can get some help cause i know this list is long. The passat seems to be the option people are advising me towards.

The passat doesn't have problems with the transmission? I think that's what I saw a few tuners discussing

What's the current price of these?
I've also noticed that rear visibility through that back screen is a tad small.

@ christopherwilliams2
$300k on the road
has backup camera built into the auto dimming rear view mirror also rear sensors
got use to it .. then again coming from a A33 didn't take much of a adjustment in driving it
trunk space is massive! sure to transport all the kiddies stuff easily

Drive what you like, that will be your ultimate driving pleasure. Who cares what people say, they will say it if they want to. Buy what apples to you. In the end it will ultimately be your decision. But the tuners have given you some excellent choices. Go see the options, test drive it, do some reviews online and on YouTube, then make your decision. That's what I do

Renaldo, I am glad you like the A3 sedan. But it won't go for $300K like the sportback....with some nice lights and the options of space and interior finishings, I say $350K

still not bad...but anything above that and ppl will just go with the A4 so pricing is really important...if that sedan is to really sell...cause it has everything else just the price has to be right...and i hear they have a 1.4 tfsi or tsi making 138 bhp? that will keep the price down as well with the tax savings and what not...hence the reason i say 300-310 k or thereabouts and keep in mind right now no setta cars in that price range either...u have your 300 k optima, sonata etc then a gap then your 400 k audi, bmw, etc...excluding suv's of course...

That's what I have been doing. I wanted to get the input of local car oriented folks because that can be invaluable in assisting me to make a decision. For example.... A car might be superb but the dealer is atrocious and service is poor or the crop of that particular vehicle imported have been noted to have many problems. So it is more the local scene I am looking to navigate.
