Gonna beat a dead horse:

I just configured a basic 2.5 Skyactiv Mazda6 for a Miami resident with 6speed auto. Came up to $23,590 delivered.

Now if $325k is an accurate reflection of the base model available in T&T, how did we get to 14x the cost and lower spec engine (potentially a 2.0 skyactiv @ best)?

Engine tax, VAT and maybe extra features you don't get in the US version? Subsidized fuel?

never saw a wagon in the current model. is it the new Auris he's referring to?

must be

so with that price and given Toyota's great track record we should expect a 1.8L engine with steering mounted controls, a design to turn heads with auto wipers/lights/sunroof/fogs/abs/alloys etc.

Toyota disappoints once again. this is what they're bringing for $212k. 1.5L engine

smh

Toyota can get away with anything in Trinidad. But on the Mazda 6 note wait until you guys see it in person. If someone wants a "big" car they won't buy a Jetta so its a waste of time to suggest that you'd prefer a Jetta as someone did all that says is you really like the Jetta. This car is very large in person maybe too big for most. While still being lighter that the outgoing model. To give an idea of the size:
At 2830 millimetres, the Mazda's wheelbase is longer by 105mm than the previous model, 55mm longer than the current Camry's and a whopping 118mm bigger than the VW Passat's. Compared with other Japanese and Korean competitors in this segment, nothing comes close.

I used NZ since they get the 2 litre also.
I think it will be the best lookin car on the road, but too big for most tastes and I am saying that and I drive the current 6 aka the "police model"

joe, many of us think its a good car but the value for money here in t'dad is virtually non existent. It has been a known fact that SS service has a bad rep and the equipment listing on their imported Mazda's are most times below the competition. With the ever increasing pricing on their limited options available locally it is hard for people to 'like' it in a purchasing way. Heck, if the 2.5 loaded was $300k I might be interested but sadly you and I know this will never happen. Look at your 'police' model for example...do you feel SS is justified by pricing the car @ 290k especially equipped with only 2 airbags, no xenon lights, 5-speed automatic, key-in-hole ignition start, non powered fabric seats?

We all know that SS pricing of Mazda is questionable.. but keep in mind also that they are only being outpriced/out featured by Koreans. No major Japanese maker gives good features/price (think Nissan,Toyota,Honda) while some maybe better non are a bargain.
My issue is not with SS pricing in the past. As someone who has seen the car it is very impressive on its own...I can't comment on its pricing or value/price ratio. But in my opinion it will be the best looking vehicle in its class by miles regardless of SS overpricing.
And if someone insists they want a large car it will be on their list...I am not talking about the small car or small lux car crowd. The bigger car market in Trinidad is actually a very small niche.

Also be reasonable, u know how taxes work in Trinidad...do u see any 2.5l fully loaded cars selling for 300k?

New 6 looks awesome. Mazda 6 has always been a good looking car so not surprised. Any interior shots of what would be locally available?

Well from our experiences with SS they seem incapable of getting the most desirable engine/gearbox choices at the a competitive price

Speaking of which, it is time dealerships in T&T offer infotainment equipment with a workable stock gps navigation system. I wonder who will be the first?

That new Mazda6 will be the ideal car for the TTPS. I hope they get them. Then they will have no excuse for saying criminals in B14s are able to out run them. The Mazda6 will single-handedly bring down crime in T&T.
