wouldn't recommend media blasting.............it's a VARI-injection-molded shell (basically plastic) Just needs sanding and repairs to any cracks..

media blasting... VARI-injection-molded shell (basically plastic) (&) the backbone chassis... IMHO that makes them prime candidates for media blasting. Baking soda for the body-shell... and more agressive media (Black Diamond) for the chassis.
Visual inspection for further damage (and an accurate repair job) would be a lot easier too.

I agree with your comments about the other sub-systems... engine, electrical, cooling, interior, etc.
It would cost a bundle! I couldn't afford to do this the way that it deserves.
I think I'll stick to my box Lancer A175X project. Much more unique and satisfying in the long run... With similar performance to the original Esprit too!

Really nice Mini, nigie. MUCH better looking than the chubby, ugly, over-sized modern versions IMHO.
It's a pity they didn't have a 1275 Cooper S engine to boost though. That would be the perfect "pocket-rocket" for the street... and would give some STi's and Evos stiff competition too IMHO.

a brethren of mine actually has that engine in a mini in Aranguez......he bought the engine from the bamboo at the regular engine price cuz they didnt know what kind of engine it was at the time.....(he bought it a loooong time ago)
