but that pdk transmission has more in common with a manual than an auto. rev matched downshifts, lightning fast upshifts, no lag of a torque converter.

Gets boring after a while no matter how good those things sound.

New 8 ZF 8 speed autos also rev match, skips groups of gears, holds gear during a corner, no lag either.

Would still rather a manual in my next vehicle.

Agreed and not just in that segment. Even lower powered cars going dual clutch.

I think the next gen gt3 will get back the manual option.
