Serenas are popular because they're easily available, the biggest concern I've heard about them relates to their transmissions and overheating, seeing enough of them driving with popped bonnets or speaker ports in the bonnets left me uninterested. As for minivan seven seaters ROROs your ticket:
Serena
Noah/Voxy
ISIS
WISH
Odyssey
Alphard/Veilfire
ElGrand

Massy having a sale on the lower end Tucson 1.6T (260 to 235) and the lower end Qashqai (255 to 239).

I think they messed up with those low end models so they probably not selling... They dumbed down the safety features on both coupled with Massy short and expensive service intervals vs the competition.

Called about the odyssey. 265k for a 2016 2.0l hybrid.

Looked at similar odysseys on the net and they're loaded with features.

Parts and service? Anyone know of availability of parts for odyssey and where to service it?

Did they ever really sell the Qashqai at 255k anyhows? Got a quote from them last year in Jan for it at 250k and today if you walk in they still sell you it for 250k.

Did you also look at the Wish on the same page? Seems to have good headroom, decent legroom and still have a usable trunk with all seats in use, nice option if it's not big people you're moving, should be nice for the wife

Yeah boy carluva that Odyssey A172 bringing down is the scene go with that. Price is really good and there is some really amazing tech in there.

Car does not even have a transmission. Just a gas engine and 2 electric motors. Car runs on one electric motor while the engine uses the next electric motor to charge the battery. Once the car reaches highway speeds the engine directly connects to the drive shaft and runs the car.

Dunno if you can really use this for us in Trinidad, considering we use a different lighting standard than the U.S. i believe the Euro standard is what we use.

Something really wrong with how ppl pricing cars. Saw an ad in papers today - Maska bringing hybrids and they have a pic of the Odyssey. Called them and the price is $495k. WTH! Are these ppl even including the tax exeptions on MVT, VAT and duties and passing them onto the customer?

The one I called about this week was $260k. Similar cars on tradecarview are circa US$42k. That's a landed cost of about $295k including broker fees etc. How the hell can Maska be making $200k on ppl head so? Can someone please explain this to me or is something seriously wrong here?

They covering their rass I would think. When I called maska they were offering 1 year insurance, 4 years warranty and free service on hybrids.

If something goes wrong on those vehicles they hadda take responsibility for it, that mean courtesy vehicle for you and they hadda first figure out how to work on a vehicle they have no experience with and the order parts and hope it works when they fix it.

I am sure there is some extra profiteering in there as well.

A172 pretty strait with his prices and he is honest regarding if issues arise.

correct@ maska
if they offering all that they assuming way more risk so they could call whatever price they see fit for such a service, don't like it don't buy
the trini want everything for nothing mentality is a disease

another thing i've noticed is a few small importers offering "service & maintenance" of the electric components in the hybrid system. ironic that not even new car dealers offer parts or servicing for hybrids yet these ppl magically have all these resources at their disposal

a fool & their money.........

Can't remember for sure but didn't you get burned with a VW? If so why you gonna go hybrid? Not saying it will mash up for sure but if something (major) goes wrong you'll have less support than even if you had a euro.

Never said i was gonna go hybrid. Was just looking at options for 7 seater and that odyssey caught eye this week. And u r right, i was "burned" by VW and ur point is spot on.

I will be reluctant to go with new tech unless its supported properly. And thats also why im reluctant to buy RORO.... all cars ive ever owned were new so the RORO still has me slightly skeptical when it comes to support and parts. But that may change as more research is done. Hybrid is new to Trinidad and ppl only jumpin on dat bandwagon cause the cars cheap and exempt from taxes etc. Only time will tell how it fares here.

If you want to go hybrid the Toyota Prius is probably your best bet. Extremely reliable, also you should be able to get parts from Toyota T&T.

Only problem is that the new one is ugle AF.
