Rented a Ford Edge recently away and was really impressed with it, supposedly it's based on the fusion platform, I'd like to see the price too

While the vehicle might be cheaper to purchase initially due to the 1.5l displacement (not taking into account the supposed forthcoming turbo luxury tax) most likely that engine will require premium fuel... and there is already a hefty charge on premium fuel.

Ford Mondeo, focus didn't require premium before too?

The focus? Nope.
Mondeo which is the same as the Fusion, wasn't turbocharged before so don't think it required premium. Well the locally available ones weren't turbocharged at least.

These small displacement turbo engines are pretty efficient though.
For example our 2016 C180, I can easily get up than 450 miles on a full tank or premium (> 720km) if driven conservatively
With the RAV4 2.0 NA, lucky to get 400-450 on a tank of super. So fuel cost difference somewhat cancel each other off. And the more torque (with similar HP) is quite welcome.

What is the fuel tank capacity of each vehicle? What is the mass of each vehicle?

RAV4 about 60litres
C class - around the same as well. Would check manual later. But I recall driving from POS to El Socorro on reserve tank in traffic.. And took $330 to full at a gas station in El Socorro. Which equals about 57 liters.

The current 2016 2.0L inline 4 turbo eco boost uses regular, so I don't see why a 1.5 would use premium.

Edit: just read the below exchange on Facebook,
Image

Edit again:
Just read the technical specs, 87 octane on the 1.5.

Do these sales pl even learn about the car they selling?

Just be-careful car makers will tune engines for different markets ... make sure and check the gas tank lid when you check it out, should have the correct RON rating needed.

^^^ I think what Jedi means is that it can use our super as 87AKI is equivalent to out 92RON

Telling people to use premium gives them a bit of a safety net. Super might work but to be sure use premium.... Cause it is aluminum, turbocharged and we are dealing with higher cylinder pressures and heat. A couple of hard pulls on some bad tanks of fuel and you could be looking at a badly damaged engine. The chance of the headache with premium would be far less. For all you know it might produce more power as it determines the fuel being used.

While I agree with it points, I was just conveying what was posted earlier by Jedi.
However, if the manufacturer listed "super" it should be able to be used without engine damage. The engine should be able to pull some timing which will result in lower power.
Keep in mind super is $2.17 cheaper and the speed limit is 80, not 81 so not much power needed...

new car with old-tec engine? I thought this was reserved for Mazda (MZR 1.6 in third-gen Mazda 3) and Nissan (HR16DE in B17 Sentra)....seems like Honda felt left-out there..

Maybe Ansa know something we don't like a new turbo tax that would make the new 1.5 Turbo earthdreams engine to expensive for 95% consumers in T&T.

Is it not the same ansa that is potentially bringing down the fusion with the 1.5 ecoboost

Could it be that the 1.5T was the only option for that vehicle?

Saw an ad on Facebook today about the Lancer 2.0 GLS for $199,950.00
Comes with
- Reverse Camera
- Paddle Shifters
- Dual Air Bags
- Bluetooth
- Alloy Rims
- Body Kit
- DRLs

Are there any 2.0l vehicles cheaper than that from the showroom?

There is a lot of win in that Lancer 2.0. You can easily convert to GT by installing the 18" rims, the rear wing and front strut brace. $200k is a steal of a deal. Jetta will still blow its socks off but excellent attempt by ANSA to bring an acceptable performing car at such a bargain basement price.

In a nation where gas prices and cost of living is consistently increasing, why would a bigger engine be more appealing?
Small, turbo-charged makes more sense to me.
