That is a HUGE bite to take for your 1st attempt @ bodywork.

If ever I saw a project in need of Electrolysis or at least Media Blasting.... this is it. (Click on the links for more info.)

I'm going for both options for my projects... and it's a lot of work.
Much respect if you try either one... and good luck. 8-)

^ ^ ^ Happy New Year bob.

Yup, molasses. MUCH cheaper option than Electrolysis. Unfortunately it takes MUCH longer though.

adhesives are the new welding of the future. Ford started stress & shear testing with welded panels & bonded panels. they found that the bonded panel sheared off not at the bonded point but where there was no bonding.listen carefully to the narration, i learned a lot from them.happy restoration.

nigie your guys could make some money teaching people how to do do bodywork...these youngsters only know how to run in de bamboo and buy used bodyparts to slap on.........'straightening' and patchwork is a dying art...

True.... but ironically ..these same master patchers fully endorse running in the bamboo for used body parts... cause they say its so much work..and time consuming...the time it will take 2 slap on a fender and paint ..to craft one is tripple the time..so u have 2 beg most of them to work on old cars..and the work oftentimes gets interrupted to facilitate the bamboo bucks or is very pricey....plus all garage owners complain about the lack of labour and interest in body restoration...there is "patchin" and there is "patching/restoring properly"....so guess it will remain a dying art..

Image

Note he indents the patch 2 retain the pockets ...like the original...this takes time...

Image

Note patch is double coated...well tripple cause entire underside will be painted
