I would like to believe so, they have to be insane to tax already registered vehicles

I cannot guarantee the accuracy but this is what I've 'heard' they are considering is 'turbo tax' for over 150hp and decreasing the diesel subsidy

150 HP turbo vehicles increased taxes? That's alot ... That's almost every stock turbo car on the market.

A few cars should escape a turbo tax.
Mini cooper 1.5T
BMW 3 118i
Audi A3 1.2 tfsi and the 1.4 tfsi has a lower tune below 150 HP but dont know what model we get here.

Also the 1.5t civic? And 1.5 Ford Fusion
And the 1.6T Tucson.
Btw, the Tucson 1.6T requires premium.
(Think someone else wanted to know this a while back)

And all this for what? For people to buy more eco-friendly vehicles like hybrid or cng? I smell an agenda here... Time to get some food. Gyros!

Enforced 80 km speed limit, more hybrids and higher gas prices should lead to overall lower gas consumption.

Less pollution. Trinidad and Tobago is one of the biggest per capita emitters of carbon dioxide.

It would save a ton of forex.

I am not sure if we import the gasoline or we import oil to make gasoline. But in the end it costs forex.

Engine has been around for about 3 to 4 years and used in a few other Hyundai/Kia models and have not really read about any major issues.
Main downside I see is the DCT attached to it. Its a dry clutch DCT which a few manufactures have had issues with in the past including VW, Ford and Honda.

Thing is that online spec for this engine around the world lists it as using 87 octane which is 91 RON, but I have heard that MASSY recommends premium.

Earlier versions of the 2.0 TSI engines has been know to have Timing chain tensioner failures, but later revisions supposed to have solved that, Water pump failures and coil pack failures are not unheard of on all VW group engines.

Most vehicles get a Wet clutch 6 speed DCT which is supposed to be reliable, its the 7 speed dry clutch system you want to avoid like the plague on the Jetta and Passat. Some cars brought in have a traditional 6 speed automatic built by Aisin (Toyota's tranny company) which supposed to be rock solid.

Nice vehicle.. but not at 360k... esp when you throw in Massy's legendary service.
Trunk is kinda small unless you fold down the back seats.

Yeah main downside is the size ... an HRV has more space than the Tig.

They trying to get rid of stock for the new Tig. But 360 is the discounted price? I have seen the low end model go for as low as 330 at one point.
