Yup, I know of it.
Saw it being built, been there for the the first few start ups and it's driving pretty great now.

It's a Austin Mini with a 1 rotor custom built engine mated to the mini manual transmission.
Even has a rotor like shaped exhaust barrel at the rear and full race seats.

Awesome car and everything was done locally.

Location and who owns it, I am not at liberty to say yet as I never discussed it with the owners on if I can share this awesome build.

Why did he do a one rotor? Could the 2 rotor not fit? Or was it because the stock mini transmission wouldn't handle the power?

Both.

The two rotor when fitted with the transmission, will end up too close to where the struts are.

The engine is actually fitted to a Nissan K10 gearbox.
Original Mini gearboxes occupy the lower half or sump of the engine /gearbox combo.
There's a video of the car somewhere, I'll see if I can find it.
It really is built by an enthusiastic fabricating family.................

I just always assumed that it was the mini box (my bad as I have no clue what the original mini combo comprises of)

Yup, they are a cool family.
