Currently own a euro ford focus and had a rover and a vw golf before. Not even the dealer does have the parts for the focus. They always have to order it. :(

Corolla, swift, lancer, elantra etc. List is endless.

You even bother to check any dealers or research anything at all?

New lancer is premium not super. Except for the 2.0 which is 265,000. Corolla is super and under 200000? Swift and sx4 are super in true. Not sure about elantra though. Btw elantra reliable? I know they nice looking but reliable? The cruze is also super but your resale value will be squat within a year of purchase. I did check some dealers out and did some research. Just checking trinituner for suggestions.

Tuner gonna pretty much throw out the same things you came up with. There is a corolla for 185k. Elantra should be like the cerato I think so should use super. Best you visit individual forums. If it's resale you talking about then I guess go corolla.

Corolla 'midspec' is 190 - no fogs, hubcaps and less airbags than the fully loaded. Still comes with tach and steering audio controls and interior is pretty sweet.

why do cars not use super nowadays? everything used super about 15 years back.. even 2.5L V6 cifero and sr20 primera used to use super.. and much smaller, less powerful engines nowadays can't use it? why?

How you think they got engines smaller but maintaining or increasing power??....changing the fuel spec for one.

Higher compression ratios. The smaller newer engines have higher compression but this heats up the air in the cylinder. If the temperature is high enough the air fuel mixture will ignite before it should during the cycle inducing knock. Higher octane fuel has a higher temperature limit for knock hence the use of premium now versus super. Basically any engine that has a compression ratio of 10:1 will use premium at least.

Exceptions to this can be found in Skyactiv but they use a modified exhaust manifold to prevent knock with their higher than 10:1 compression ratios. So that's why some Skyactiv engines can use super.

Note also that in cases where the smaller engine has less power it might be making more power per cylinder by using higher compression ratios. Also have to look at emissions standards to see if that had an effect in a manufacture using a newer engine with higher compression ratios.

Since some dealerships do not provide a spare tyre and some provide it but with a donut not a rim.
