The Golf GTi seems a bit on the high side considering the last one with DSG was around $310k not so?
Correct me if i'm wrong.

To save on cost of it,they reverted back to the cheaper torsion beam rear suspension setup and some of the interior plastics are the cheap scratchy feel and type? Please take my questions seriously as I have this model on top of my list but I need some justification for the pricing as oppose to other alternative, say its cheaper newer cousin the Octavia to arrive sometime late this year into next year.

Found the same from the reviews, the lower price is supposed to allow the Jetta to compete in the same range as Corolla and other compact cars. Maybe they're anticipating local compact car prices to rise to that level.
Service charges don't seem look that bad, are the prices VAT inclusive?

boy from introduction of the VW in the first place it should have been around 200kmax to compete with the corolla/mazda 3 et al...I suppose it's cuz its "euro" and has more features than the rest in the segment,N&M thinks this dictates higher price advantage over the rest of bland cars we have here....smh..sad really...have a friend who refuses to buy a Cayenna S turbo in trinidad and resorted to buying in UK,then shipping to Trinidad...saved alot of money this way...so I'm considering the same alternative

- 1.4 Turbo Super Charged Engine (160 Horsepower)

I don't see what the big deal is about having 160 hp in a Jetta. That's like having a standard 2.0 in the car.
I guess if the Jetta came with a 158 hp 2.0, no one would be up in arms about it. Now that it has a "Twincharged" (super turbo) engine, folks believe that this is some kind of rocket.
you need to drive it yourself and see...the "big deal" with this engine is this...1.4twin charged engine 160hp 0-60sec takes 7.9sec ,is faster and more economical than the related 2.0 FSI 160hp engine...with fuel consumption better than any diesel VAN you will get here in Trinidad...this complimented in a twin clutch DSG transmission (same you getting in lets say a porsche or evo) ...no other manufacturer in the world has done an engine like this before..and for this reason and other technical features, it won an engine of the year award..
no other manufacturer in the world has done an engine like this before

"an" award? lulz
Actually, the 1.4 TFSI has won more consecutive engine of the year awards than most manf'rs can ever boast of in the past ten years. it is now the template by which other manufacturers (hyundai, porsche etc) aim to power their hot hatches on.
The DSG is also something i yearn to see more cars with.
my point however was missed. it was more focused on the hype becuase it's "forced induction", as in
"it turbo so it must be a sports car"
for example i remember meeting a fellow at the showroom once, and had to explain to him that the Jetta altho it is twincharged, is still not a sportscar. it is still intended as a luxury sedan, like a mini a4 for example. he wanted to compete with evos.
when looked at in perspective, the car is an amazing offering - for what it IS. the last gen jetta with the 1.4 twincharged, at it's price was a steal.no other manufacturer in the world has done an engine like this before
twin charging? that's been done in the past-repeatedly. Nissan for example. Gruppe B cars yada yada yada.
I assume you know this, so I guess u mean twincharging + DSG combo?
If so - agreed. talking abt that, i wonder if the polo gti will reach down here?
now that car will be more befitting of this powerplant.
