After setting the Top Dragster World Record at Palm Beach International Raceway Florida January 2011 , Sheldon also qualified no. 1 and won the Open Outlaw race at the NHRA Sunshine Dragstrip Florida February 2011. In the process, he reset the track record.



Sheldon is now rebuilding the entire car with some new advanced technology including the engine, chassis, supercharger,fuel system and electronics.  The dragster is powered by a 526 ci supercharged hemi V8 running on 100% Methanol. Some advantages of using Methanol as fuel is the fact that it produces massive amounts of horsepower and it is a clean burning fuel. Methanol Dragsters have absolutely explosive power and acceleration and are often described as one of the most difficult cars to drive. It takes more than courage to handle these machines. The driver needs lightning quick reactions, excellent coordination and serious determination. Because of the challenge facing the alcohol driver, a strong previous racing history is recommended. It has taken Sheldon 27 years to do this.



The Methanex sponsored race team's next race will be July 3, 2011 Dorchester Dragway South Carolina . This will be an all out, heads up Pro Top Outlaw race ("run what you brung"). Some of the best pro racers will be present fighting for a qualifying spot where only the 16 fastest cars will qualify.

Following this, the team will head to the most prestigious drag racing facility in the world - Indianapolis Raceway Park Indiana. This track is home to the biggest drag race in the world - The NHRA U.S. Nationals. On the 8th of July, Sheldon will take part in the Friday Night Rage Ultimate Dragster race. It will be his first time competing at Indy.

The team will arrive four days before the first race. This will allow enough time to rebuild the entire car, get familiar with the race track, meet other competing teams and be mentally prepared for the racing. If everything goes as planned, there should be some good results for Trinidad and Tobago.

All of this would not be possible without the sponsors : Methanex, Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs, Total Lubricants, VP Racing Fuels, and PSTL.
