you can get a 2007 model landed and cleared inclusive of MVT, VAT, CIF, license/registration fee, number plate, one day insurance cover note, cleaned/detailed and full tank of gas for approx. $637,000.00 TTD
If I missed anything then you know the figure going up...plus if you going through a dealer then you gotta add a high markup.

You talk a lot of sense there bro. I think the main problem with people in Trinidad is that they don't take the time to do enough research on the price/reliability factor of the cars they choose to buy. At 172K, I WOULD NEVER buy a Japanese when I can get a Euro for just 2K more.

I won't bother to argue this but I can tell you with assurance that when certain automobile manufacturers purchase build components from their suppliers they have a choice of A, B, C, etc grade... right down to nuts and bolts and plastic fixtures. It all looks and feels the same but the difference is in the quality of materials and it is reflected in the price the manufacturer pays for it. So the vehicles built with the premium quality components are shipped to the markets where the reviews influence global sales and the other markets get the other grades...
The international standards you are referring to govern mostly the process of manufacturing for the vehicle manufacturer. Only companies with sound reputations and who are willing to spend the money for greater quality adhere to more stringent standards where even the manufacturers from whom they get their components and even the raw materials for those components adhere to the same stringent standard. This is why the likes of BMW, VW, Mercedes, Toyota, Nissan can trace a failed bolt all the way back to where there was a deviation from the standard which may have caused that bolt to have failed...
In terms of sales, features, etc of vehicles I give you win on anything you want to say cuz that not my niche... But when it comes to manufacturing, supply chain and standards, be careful what you stick your neck out for...

You have a point somewhat, because I always wonder why in USA Hyundai offers a 10 year warranty while stile maintaining low prices, but in T&T we get the normel 2-3yr warranty
