So far I haven't seen a proper lap time for the LFA around the Nurburgring.. and the LFA's chief engineer did say

'the LFA has lapped the Nürburgring Nordschleife in "better than 7 minutes 20 seconds"..

Chief engineers for LFA say "better than 7:20" on the nring can be achieved but an official record of 7:38 was seen while wearing temporary Bridgestone S001 street tires since at that time the LFA spec tires were still under development.

That Lap was done by a Hourst Von Saurma; a German journalist with a racing background (I think the magazine is called sport auto). However, that magazine has been known to have a huge bias towards german cars and though he is a good driver, he's not the best (his GT-R time; the old one; was the same time he put down for the LF-A).

Noticed this myself.. Some of this other times with various cars seem abit off as well..

Motoharu Kurosawa (aka Gan San) was able to lap the ring in 7: 56 with the Honda NSX-R (that was a fun lap to watch!). Von Saurma's time with that car was 8:09 and they mentioned that the one he used had 'Sport tires, suspension modification'..

I want to see a someone really push that LFA to show us what it is really capable off..

This corvette fan boy is not pleased

BTW i want to see a proper test video showing the speeds and rpm like what they did with the first GT-R.
And also the other cars that the GTR "beat" on the ring are 2wd (NOT too sure about the 911 turbo)

The 2012 is very impressive out of the box. The suspension and the improved traction logic are more of a benefit than the extra power boost

Sorry, its valid once this group agrees (they even disqualified the GT2-RS). And RWD has always been considered an advantage when it comes to track times anyway (with LIGHT cars). The AWD cars start further up the list (I think from the RUF); www.fastestlaps.com has a pretty good record though you can't trust it fully because some times further down the list are done by journalists/amateurs and not race car drivers.

So to rub salt in your wounds... hows it feel to have your favourite car (417 bhp/tonne power to weight ratio) lose against a 4-seater with a 301 bhp/tonne power to weight ratio on a wet track?... sorry just teasing

Trying to control 640hp at the RWD coming out of a corner, It takes great skill to do that, as opposed to distributing the hp over 4wheels in the GTR. So who has the advantage? The GTR is a far easier car to drive, that is no secret and it is what makes the car good. But nissan has been known to lie about the actual power figures for the GT-R and the car's setup, because quote,

"The truth is that there is NO STANDARDISED table and no overseeing committee or body for who has the fastest lap of the Nürburgring Nordschleife...." end quote

If it is true then, ALL HAIL THE GT-R 8-)

Son true skills is when yuh 4wheels break traction in a GTR an you have to keep it on the track!

(*Cough...continued to your quote) "Therefore, BTG is taking an axe to the bushes of bullsh*t that have overgrown the legend of the Nürburgring Nordschleife and the eternal question: which production car has the fastest lap of the Nurburgring Nordschleife? Below is the table of truth. A claim is only judged as valid when we have unequivocal video proof and the car is undoubtedly a production-spec, road-legal car." I call it... "selective reading".

"Easy to Drive". Everybody makes this mistake and I didn't expect much different; the Corvette does take skill to drive, but the skill required for the GT-R is, funnily enough; different. Its cited as easy to drive everyday. However on the track; whereas it definitely doesn't seem to suffer as high of a risk as spinning as the corvette this car has its own business to deal with. Read a review; any review. They will all tell you that the car is not as great as giving feedback as to where its limits are (especially compared to corvettes, porsches, vipers etc.); watch a video, while you see that Mero is mostly smooth on his steering inputs, though he flicks around for a feel or to occasionally settle the cars ass (great throttle control by the way as I barely saw that happen); you'll notice that on the GT-R however there's a lot going on with the wheel; the driver flicks the wheel slightly for the turn in, then a lot of turning, followed by an optional slight flick again all in the same direction of the turn (repeats for long corners with odd curves too); that's not normal driving (and the arse of the car is is still holding, it ain't hanging out; barely any opposite lock). Its almost as if he's either preparing the car to turn (witchcraft diffs and stuff) OR really trying to get a feel. Plus anyways that car is a lot heavier than the other contenders as well; that's even more madness. I personally think that in this unique car ordinary to good drivers will match similar times with small gaps I feel like there's a huge threshold in track times for great drivers/drivers who drive like that ^; just cause the cars weird. But... that's just my opinion at the end of the day.

Oh and power... so... Nissan giving their ordinary production cars more power than advertised is a problem (its a habit from the gentlemen's agreement). Motortrend I think ran a test and the car did indeed have more torque than advertised (40ft/lbs more lol); but these are handbuilt engines; if I recall correctly I think Nissan did say that the figures will vary. But who cares, they already lent their own Nurburgring test cars out to Sport Auto (only managed a 7:38), released three laps of the ring (one with the 2011 model), and had coverage with Bestmotoring at the 7:26.7. What more do you want; a ticket? Nissan's already proved their greatness by getting AWD and turbo's banned in most of circuit racing (even their own series, JGTC) on a world stage (2wd V8 powered Sumo GT-R?)... Making a heavy four seater that good is already a Concorde feat among todays supercars (that's why a bugatti is considered great; even though I dislike that quad turbo w16 powered Volkswagen Beetle a lot, its as comfortable as any other road car; so it has my respect). However I'd personally like to see them make another R390 just so they could show again what they really can do  .

:drinking:

@turbosingh fuh real... ppl doh kno some of the most dangerous driving was done in AWD (though it was with massive amounts of power in tin light cars) in Group B, and there were many bodies over the 4 years it lasted. Men only ripping on d AWD like is nothing. LOL.
