The "DOCTOR" in F1

Postby cenile indian » April 22nd, 2010, 11:29 am

Valentino Rossi, widely acknowledged as the greatest motorcycle racer of all time, may have a second career on something with more than two wheels. As diehard MotoGP and Formula One fans are already aware, the Italian superstar has proven to be just as fast around a race circuit when piloting a Ferrari F1 car as he is on his Yamaha motorcycle, and the Scuderia has made numerous overtures to The Doctor in an effort to get him to cross disciplines.

Apparently, outgoing Fiat Group Chairman Luca Cordero di Montezemolo reiterated once again earlier this week that it would love to put Rossi in the driver's seat of one of its scorching red F1 cars, saying:

We want a third car [in F1 next year] and I would do everything to have Valentino... When he wins this year's MotoGP, enough is enough, he must also win in Formula 1.

So, is it going to happen? We have no idea, but there is some conjecture that if Rossi continues his winning ways by capturing his tenth World Championship on two wheels, it might make the decision to try his hand at F1 a bit easier to make.

he should join F1 if he wants a new challenge but don't expect immediate dominance, the technical and physical aspects of F1 are often underestimated but word is he is also fast in 08/09 F1 car

This reminds me of when Jordan decided to leave basketball and enter baseball. When you're good at one sport and you like another, it doesn't mean that you'll be good in the other. And we all know what happened to him.

The results might be different in 'The doctor's' case, but why bother. Play the sport that comes naturally to you.

Rossi should stay in MotoGP.

F1 has too much politics and the driver's don't enjoy themselves as much.

IMO a F1 car is much more difficult to handle than a MotoGP bike. Much higher cornering speeds and gforces exerted on the body, esp the neck.

he won;t be the first two wheeler to run in F1
last one in recent memory was Damon Hill
going back in time you find many 2 / 4 wheel cross overs so nothing new here...

With the current F1 regulations, MotoGP>>>>>F1.

And WSBK>>>>>MotoGP.

Rossi needs to go to WSBK instead.
