The Russian government has ordered 30 GEM e4 no-emission vehicles to shuttle world leaders about for the upcoming G8 Summit in St. Petersburg on July 15-17.

The vehicles, made by DaimlerChrysler's Global Electric Motorcar, were used during the 2004 G8 Summit at Sea Island, Ga. They can reach a maximum speed of 25 miles per hour and can last up to 30 miles between charges. The base sticker price of the GEM e4 is $8,995.

Here's the rear of the GEM e4 with its storage space on the back. You can see the battery between the rear 12-inch wheels. Batteries can be recharged from any 110-volt outlet.

Global Electric Motorcar also makes a two-seat vehicle, the GEM e2. Note the similarity with DaimlerChrysler's Smart ForTwo car inset top left. The GEM e2 begins at $6,995. Options include doors for weather protection and a heater/defogger.

The stretch version of GEM cars is the e6. The driving range of this six-seater can be increased to 40 miles with optional eight-volt batteries. The introductory base price of the GEM e6 is $12,495.

The "pickup" version of GEM cars is the GEM eL. Its base price is $8,995.

The GEM eS is a two-seat vehicle with a little less cargo room that the GEM eL. Its base price is $7,745
