MAZDA IN HISTORY AGAIN- FIRST IMPORT FWD TO MAKE 7 SECS

Postby turbofied » July 5th, 2006, 2:09 am

Team Bergenholtz thrust Mazda into the drag racing history books by becoming the first import-powered FWD to eclipse the quarter mile in less than eight seconds. The team’s turbocharged four-cylinder MAZDA6 recorded a 7.934 seconds E.T. (elapsed time) with a trap speed at nearly 184 MPH at the 2004 NHRA Sport Compact World Finals for the record breaking feat. In addition to continue their stranglehold on the title of “world’s fastest FWD importâ€

OK..... ..awesome.....MAZDA all the way..!!!
i saw this car on speedTV a lil while back for the NHRA....it was running best..!!!

we had better get the 4WD Mazdaspeed 6 Turbo here in Trini...!!!
EVO an STI killer...haha!!! :D no offence!!

this is the MS6 MOTO....2.3LT
Max. output 274 HP @ 5,500 rpm
Max. torque 280 lb. ft. @ 3,000 rpm
MAZDASPEED6 Output and Torque Performance

Increased low to mid-range torque: The internal cooling effect when fuel is injected directly into the combustion chamber increases torque by up to 10 percent at around 3,000 rpm, which realizes easy to control torque in the low to mid range.

Outstanding engine response: The internal cooling effect within the combustion chamber results in the turbocharger's blower adding substantial boost soon after the accelerator is pressed, at around 2,500 rpm.

A single turbocharger covers all speeds: The merits of the direct injection system make effective boost possible from low through high speeds using a single-scroll turbocharger, which is light in weight and simple in construction.

High compression ratio contributes to improved fuel economy: The internal cooling effect within the combustion chamber improves anti-knock characteristics and improves the engine's fuel economy without losing low-end torque, even running at a high compression ratio.

The exhaust optimizes torque output and presents an appealing exhaust tone that heightens the Zoom-Zoom driving experience, producing a throaty, sporty sound when accelerating.
