Observe the color of the dipstick which shows the internal carbon and gum built up as a result of having direct injection with a turbocharger. Also observe the oil color. The oil smells burnt and 66% of the oil is gone. There are no leaks. So what's wrong here guys?
Massy claims they have been putting 5W-30 in the Tucson.
So are these issues attributed to the cheap oil they are putting inside the engine? Is it our heat and dust and stop and go traffic? Is it our fuel?
I would like owners of vehicles equipped with small turbocharged engines to pm me with pics of oil level and indicate make, model and year of the vehicle in question so that we can see what are possible trends etc, thanks.

I am curious to see the showroom price prior to MVT and VAT.
My friend in Australia has been chatting with me about how expensive vehicles are in Australia, but they are still wayy cheaper than they are here.
Trying to see whether there is alignment between the pre tax prices here vs the pre tax prices in Aus.
Hence my earlier question.

Looks like that oil is breaking down in the engine, the Tucson uses 5w-30? I'd change the oil before March and try a different brand like Amsoil for e.g. as far as I know Amsoil works well with turbo charged engines, especially engines that are direct injected.lalloboy101 wrote:agent007 wrote:For all the Tucson turbo owners out there, observe the photo attached. 2018 FL Tucson, mileage 27,xxxkms. Last service was September 2021 outside firm as warranty expired in march of 2021. Oil used by firm was mineral oil, Oil used on last service was 5w30 fully syn mobil 1 with oem filter. This is what the oil looks like a few minutes ago, next service is March 2022. Vehicle is hardly driven and rarely reaches 5k before a service, I had the unfortunate experience of having the gearbox replaced in december of 2020, before my warranty expired.

The important bit is not to drive hard then park up with a hot turbo, and drive the car with the oil at full operating temp once in a while to get all the moisture out. With these turbo GDI cars the oil has to be changed right on time or mileage, but the oil looks fine.

I find your oil looks good. Looking like it slightly over filled too but that may be the angle. Try Amsoil Signature Series 5W-30 if you want to go longer intervals.lalloboy101 wrote:agent007 wrote:For all the Tucson turbo owners out there, observe the photo attached. Are you referring to Hyundai Xteer? Cause that is based off of Shell Helix base stock. Need some more info on this so I can compare it against Amsoil.Dave wrote:Hyundai has developed specific oil for GDI turbo charged engines and it is available locally if one wishes to stick to what the manufacturer recommends.

That's why car loans are now 8 years, I'm expecting 10 year loans in the near futureagent007 wrote:In Australia, the cost of a fully loaded 2022 Mazda CX-5 Akera 2.5T awd is $55,000. AUD. A primary school teacher yearly gross income is $89,593.
The CX5 is 61% the gross yearly salary of said primary school teacher.
In Blessed T&T, the cost of a fully loaded 2022 Mazda CX-5 2.0 2wd is $361,000 TTD. A primary school teacher yearly gross income is $132,000. TTD
On the flipside, a primary school teacher yearly gross income here is roughly 37% the cost of a "fully loaded" CX5 which pales in comparison to the true fully loaded available in Australia.
Put another way, in Australia, a primary school teacher after collecting 8 gross monthly salaries would have surpassed the cost price of the CX5 Akera.
Whereas in T&T, our primary school teacher after collecting 33 salaries would have finally caught up to the purchase price of our "fully loaded".
Let me know if I'm wrong here...anyone for that matter.carluva wrote:Anyone here recently bought a new vehicle from the firm and care to share with us the cost breakdown?
