Vehicle budget right now is 220 give or take max sadly.. part of me telling me just go back with a pick-up, but I'm curious. What else is there available with decent ground clearance and good suspension??? I do regular matelot trips etc so
I'm curious of what's y'all views with dealership offerings??
Dip in the grey market suv?
Local used pickup? (This scares me with the way individuals maintain their diesels)
Or just hold a strain until I can get back a new van?
Vehicle must have that 8-10 year longevity too.
Advise the I man.
Serious, I honestly forgot about that!. I will definitely check that outCapleton wrote:nick639v2 wrote:So my d40 navara is going next week most likely.

Right now you can get a Colorado LT for $240K. It may be a lil over your budget, but it's a proper 4x4.

So from what I gather, you had the d40 navara but don’t mind upgrading to another van while also exploring possibilities with:
1. Good ground clearance
2. Good suspension
3. To handle frequent Matelot trips
So, I have no idea what particular grade of navara you drive but with $220k you can get a NP300 Frontier SE 2WD with the double cab and 6MT transmission for $191k thereabouts. You would have extra cash to add some accessories and upgrade wheels.
You can also get a similarly equipped Mazda BT-50 or Isuzu D-Max. Frankly, either way you go would not be a bad choice but again, it depends on which Navara you had.
If it were me, I would give diesel a rest and get something easier on my spine, less noisy and generally superior in terms of braking, handling dynamics etc.
So, $220k can land you a Suzuki Vitara GL+ which has a 1.6 engine mated to a 6AT transmission. You get a towering 5 year warranty with this vehicle. Standard power and safety features as well as 17” rims, 185mm ground clearance and all wheel disc brakes add up to a good overall package for $200k. If you are serious, you can act quickly and pay the same $200k for the upgraded GLX model (priced at $228k) which someone won recently but wishes to sell. It never left the showroom!
If you leaning more on ground clearance, there is the Subaru XV Crosstrek 1.6 AWD with 220mm ground clearance (best in class). With standard 7 airbags, smart phone integration, the worlds best awd system, all disc brakes, fog lights and the usual compliment of power features, you can’t go wrong especially for $229k. Prepare to wait though as Subaru’s flying off Massy’s showroom and storage lots like we preparing for some apocalypse. You putting out money in this case, exactly $9k additional but it well worth it. It will conquer that road all the way to Matelot and beyond.
If you want to go a little more soft core, you can get a Hyundai Creta or Venue or even a Chevy Trax. The latter gives you leather seats, sunroof, 18” rims and a peppy 1.4T engine mated to a 6AT transmission.
Lastly, you have the ubiquitous Rush. Same ground clearance as the Subaru, genuine RWD body on frame based chassis, 6 airbags and legendary Toyota reliability and resale value. The third row would be ideal for your kids or your mother in law. Simply perfect!
Opt for the top trim and you pay $225k.
Opt for the Subaru, that’s what we did.

Mine running strong, Nil oil dilution issues thus far. I change the oil every 6 months with an average of 7-8K Kms anyway so I doubt there is time for Oil dilution to take place.
No overfilled oil pan close to service, No gassy smell from the dipstick
so no evidence thus far.

Its $800k. The most capable 4wd true SUV in T&T stock and straight out the showroom.
