It seems the best engine management is the Apexi Power FC...its an adjustable stand alone ECU you can tune whatever mods u have ...turbo, MAF, injectors etc.
Its rare and cost a fortune, the next option is the emanage which is a piggy back.

You can also remap standard ECU.....Is there anywhere that does this in Trinidad though? I have worked on an RB20 and have been asking the same questions

a remap is a complete waste of tiome, cause if you change anything you have to get it re-tunned and the always tune them very conservatively to save the engine and for unforseen things like fuel octane, engine timing etc..

the Apexi Power FC is great, not the best, and it isnt stand alone..

i would go with an Apexi S'AFC II or Greddy Emanage Ultimate for slight mods, Apexi Power FC D Jetro for slightly more performance, and a full stand alone like a MOTEC, AUTRONIC or HALTECH..

remaps are like re-using toilet paper.

whatever, what happens if he upgrades injectors, AFM, changes/upgrades turbo, rebuilds the engine? he;s got to send the ECU back to re tune and it would never, i repeat NEVER be as good as if the tuner had the car on the dyno when he tunned the ECU, simply guessing does NOT reveal the best results,

just cause you know of, or associate yourself with a quick RB20, doesnt mean you know everything and best about them son ;) there are better and faster, and a re-flashed ECU *insert sarcastic laugh here* like the big tuners/racers are cars are running re-flashed ecu's.. unless a tuner is using a socketed ECU that he can tune himself on teh Dyno real time using AFR's and timing/torque curves etc to tune it porperly, i aint touching it. eve then most ECU's (like the RB20) are 8bit compared to the 16bit and 32bit standalone and piggy back ecu's there are out there now, you can also adjust for things like bigger AFM's, cams , timing, change in octane, atmospheric blow off valves, bigger injectors, switching AFM to map etc etc, get the point ;)

for a budget Apexi SAFC II or GREDDY E manage Ultimate for the win.. if you get a re-flashed ecu, chances are you'll still need some kinda controller to fine tune it when you go check you A/F ratios and timing on the dyno and you will prbably pick up power too.. they jsut cant guess it correctly and every car is different.

re-flashed ECU's were made propular when standalones, fuel and ignition controllers etc were expensive, now they are cheaper than the re-flashed ECU's..

well we didnt any of that..n well tunin is done on the dyno BUT
for u to say that a remap is a complete waste of time..obviously that's bull$H!T
never said i know everything abt it but really now..yr above comment is obviously mess.

like i said for the ECU remappin n programming..check richard n them

WELL in 'my' opinion they are, cause allot of cars/tuners/people pick up remarkable gains from jsut switching to a standalone or finetuning an already flashed ECU..

a standard ECU with a GREDY Emanage can do MORE than the average remapped ECU, it will cut boost cut, speed cut, BOV stall, fine tune fuel and ignition timing, switch to MAP or bigger AFM, create TPS maps, adjsut for coolant maps, datalogging, boost controll, can i go on, all for the same ~$500 USD you would drop on a re-mapped ECU that is done with guess work..

when you see the interface and amount of finite tuning you can do with a stand alone you will change your mind, when you see the little changes in timing and fuel in certian RPM and how they effect the cars touque curve, whp, air / fule ratios (which is the life line of your engine) etc, you will really understand, i have a Haltech and the littlest changes to the parameters and it makes the WORLD of difference, something you cant experience with a re-mapped ecu, unless you are using some kind of software to tune it real time. even then it is limited to the map size (8x8 vs 16x16 or 32x32 bit maps) and control..

but this is simple there is no way somone guessin an burnin ah new chip cud ever beat doin realtime tunin ( on de dyno or not).

there is too many reasonabnle tuning option available today to still be guessin what the maps shud be an mofifying dem.

ca19 well its like when u remap..u set it to yr car's performance n to better performance.an already upgraded brain is already set.

nothing against u ..jus d statement that its a waste of time to do remaps

ca19's whole point is remaps are good to the average joe who just gonna add some slight mods and leave it as it is.
no more mods and no jumping from drag racing to drifting to circuit.
unless u got real money and can afford to have it re-tuned everytime u change u mind on what u want to do wit the car.

what he's tryin to get at is that standalone and piggybacks are more for the car peong. Who would constantly be tryin to suck every lil power their is from the engine and constantly upgrading or changing type of races.
also its cheaper than having the ecu retuned and you would see more benefits.

^^thats right remaped ecu are good for like ppl who boost NA engines an juss runnin small boost an minor mods but for drag cars d better option wud b standalone or piggybaks.......turbo master i kno madcow usin modified brain an pull d 11.9 an planin to do low 11 but u hav to remember not everyone can tune like him an he knos his engine inside out so he knos how to tune

ya'll forget him, he will learn as he goes on, he just thinks what he's got and knows is best, there is allot for him to learn, and his constant praise of re-maps just makes me realise he hasnt realised 'yet'
