Nissan Serena C26 Problem - PLEASE HELP!!

Postby automac » October 12th, 2016, 11:35 pm

Hi. I have a Nissan Serena C26 with a problem. Let me give you the run down of what happened so you can have a full idea of the problem.

The vehicle which is used for taxi purposes was parked from around 6pm to 4:30am. When the driver entered and started the vehicle around 4:30am he noticed that the engine light came on. He contacted the technician who changed the engine oil in the vehicle (NB: engine and transmission fluids are changed on a regular basis i.e. every one month and every four months respectfully) and he also cleaned the throttle body sensors. The engine light came off. After about 5 minutes of driving the driver stopped to purchase something and when he went back into the vehicle it started and idling but it wasn't revving nor accelerating.

We contacted a car technician who said it might be the catalytic converter so we took it out but we were getting the same problem. The vehicle started well in just one turn of the key, idle well, shifting into gears well but not revving nor accelerating. We then checked the engine fuse box and realized that the TCU fuse was blown so we changed that. The vehicle then started to rev but it wast driving.

We then contacted auto electricians who ran diagnostic tests on the vehicle. We had four different test machines. Three of then had no reading and one came back with the code P0746. We then cleaned all the sensors but still the same problem just this time we are back to it not revving at all. We also changed out the relays in the engine box.

Now I am here checking to see if any of you have any clue as to what this can be.

PLEASE HELP!!

dude...who is your tech .?? for the amount of money you spent on that car and your tech still cant find the issue.??

from what you describing it seems to be the pedal sensor -newer vehicles dont have a throttle cable from pedal to throttle body they instead use a throttle sensor and an actuator inside the throttle body to open up the throttle according to the input via the pedal.

consult ryotech perofrmance for a FULL on board diagnostics and he can pull live data while the vehicle is in operation / driving to precisely pinpoint the issue.

Lol. The technicians did check the pedal sensor and it came back to be good. I forgot to mentioned that we also switched the throttle body and still we are getting the same problem.

buyin parts and switching out only fulling your mechanic pocket....with your money.
buyin parts and switching out means he dunno what the problem is....and he guessing by switching parts it fixes the issue....

The main problem I seeing here is that you have too much money. The minor problem with the vehicle...

P0746 is transmission related to the line pressure solenoid.

TCU fuse just don't blow for fun, something shorted, may be intermittent, but its still something failed in the transmission or its harness.

Newer vehicles the different ecu's talk to one another, so if the TCU has a fault the ECU knows and maybe is preventing revving/driving to save the tranny from possible more serious damage.

So it is dead easy to check the solenoid for open or short. After that you can check the line pressure sensor, again easy. Depending on outcome will know next move. It could also be the TCU itself at fault, more rare but possible. It may require removing the valvebody from transmission , sometimes something just stuck or outright failure. But this kinda change parts that not connected to the problem not going to get you anywhere.
