My first post here (I think)
I need some help regarding a Tiida and the throttle body.
Little background info:
Tiida from around before Easter gave me a problem where I started and I saw the check engine light come on. I pressed the gad pedal and the car did not move. It did not rev or anything like that.
I took it to L&G for servicing and they did, injects, serviced the throttle body etc.
Come Easter weekend I was up at the beach and same problem. This time, it went into failsafe mode (I think they call it) where the car drove but at something like a walking pace, long to accelerate etc.
Lo and behold I took it to Penal by AutoBoss and he checked and said the throttle body needed to change as L&G maybe messed it up when servicing.
Went to L&G and they said, oh maybe some carbon affecting the sensor or something and then reset it (took the battery off).
Car been good since then till this weekend gone.
Same problem come back.
So I say ok, time to change the throttle body. Massy of course has a new one at 8,200 and 2 and 1/2 months to bring it in. Not like I can afford that. Foriegn used is like 400/500. Not bad.
Mechanic in Sando told me it will get progressive worse until the car won't move again.
I have 2 young kids, so can't have that, with us stuck someplace.
The problem though is that the foreign used ones have these two lines/nipples for a coolant line that the local Massy bought Tiida does not have.
I have tried everywhere south and no idea where to get one without those two coolant line thingys.
Finally on the net I saw that a post about by passing the coolant lines if you do not live where it gets very cold. So I thought this was my solution, buy the foreign used one and simply cap off those pipes for the coolant.

A mechanic I spoke to in Sando said yeah sure he can do that. Then he said he could hook up coolant lines too (I dont know how).
Went back by AutoBoss and he said not a good idea. The coolant line there to warm up the choke or something like that, how without it, it would take a good couple of miles from when the car start for it to run properly.

So...
Does anyone know where I might get a throttle body for a local Tiida as opposed to the foreign used one.
Can you point me to a preferred auto parts place, or specific place in the bamboo etc?
And anyone ever ran a Tiida with the foreign used throttle body without the coolant lines hooked up?

put in the FU throttle.

the water lines are for temperate countries where air temperatures can go low and this would cause freezing and build up of ice in the throttle.

unless u driving in McDonalds warehouse freezer, this is not an issue for u.

older cars that had regular x-cable would have a choke mechanism built in the throttle whereby when the car is 'cold' the throttle would be held slightly open thus providing a fast idle and assist the car to warm up but mainly to prevent stalling when cold, if u were to drive off straight away.

The newer drive by wire cars, such as yours, don't operate like that, they take the temperature of the engine via the coolant temperature sensor(CTS) and the ECU commands the throttle to open as required for the temp of the engine at idle.

So install the FU throttle without fear, and if u really want yes the lines can still be hooked up via generic hoses, but this is unnecessary in our climate and is actually a performance enhancer to have them off.

At this point I have to ask if the car was actually scanned when the check engine light came on? There are two parts to this system. The accelerator pedal is a sensor as well so if the fault is in the pedal the car may display the same symptoms. All I'm saying is make sure you are fixing the problem and not fulling ppl pocket. Servicing injectors and anything other than the Throttle was a waste of time and money, most times these ppl break more stuff under the guise of servicing. Its not theirs if it breaks they say it was faulty, you foot the bill for their mistakes. Further its not theirs so due care and attention are also out the window.

Don't get me wrong I am a big supporter of preventative maintenance but in this country and worldwide the number of ppl that can actually do the job they are paid to do is dwindling sharply and being replaced by friends family and ppl with 'papers' & fly by night certification lots of book sense (without a firm grasp of first principles or even english) and no common sense, compounded by a lack of mechanical dexterity, but talk, they could talk work.

Nowhere in your post did you mention a diagnostic scan.

I forgot to mention I had it scanned. AutoBoss in Penal.
When I encountered the problem for the Easter weekend I took it to him during the week and the codes came up.
After that did not have the problem until this weekend gone. So I really thought maybe Laughin & Degannes was right and something triggered the sensor.
I specifically asked AutoBoss (Paul is his name) if it could be the pedal sensor. He said no, it would show up on the scan. The only thing on the scan was the throttle body. TPQ or some code like that I can't remember.

Autoboss have too much brains. Talking from experience, known him a while.

Yes i am from South.
I think the code that shows up is TPS, which someone told me is Throttle Position Sensor.
I went Bamboo today to see if I could get the part and I could not.

Bamboo? Right bicks I does do my shopping. I does only reach bamboo If I can't get it down here.

Well I tried bicks, they didn't have the part. I know bicks has the FU one.
Interestingly though I went up bamboo looking for signapore parts.
Went to a few places, finally at Car City, I asked for the part.
A guy there told me they don't have it.
How Massy is the only one who brought in the HR16, they have MR and HR15.
Then he asked about the problem and I told him and the code, TPS.
He said that's Throttle Position Sensor and the reason people out there say to change the whole throttle is that they can't fix/configure the TPS.
Said the best thing is to go to Massy and ask them for the part and get them to put it on/config etc.

There is a guy named "Green" on the HI way some where in the vicinity of Chief Brand Products on the same side. He deals with only crashed cars. You may get your part there.

If not try M&N in the bamboo, they also buy crashed vehicles.
