SR20DET in a Suzuki 4x4

Hey guys, I am looking for some general advice on the topic. I am looking to swap a SR20 motor + 5fwd gearbox into my Suzuki off roader. I am new to Nissan SR engines, but from my brief research so far I have found that parts are relatively easy to find and that there is huge aftermarket support for them (reason for going this route). At this point I am considering the use of the RWD SR20DE + gearbox from a Silvia S14 (I must use the RWD SR20 for my application). I am looking to do the mechanical install myself and then obtain an electrician to do the wiring for me.
-I have not purchased the engine as yet, but I am open to any advice you all would have before I take that step.
-Any advice on what to look for before buying? Any known faults etc?
-The RWD SR20DE sells for around $9k.. I always forgot to ask the price for the DET models though.. In the end I am looking for reliable power, that is of highest priority for my needs. 2nd and 3rd in priority are availability of parts and then overall power output.
Anything else you think I should know, please let me know. This will be my first engine swap project, so I am in new territory..

Stick with the model with a distributor setup. I believe there is a model that came with coilpacks. A na that is. Turbo came with coilpacks.
Stick to non turbo. No turbo to worry about especially in trails. I know weird angles sometimes affect oil pressure and oil pickup. The det has a problem with this when drifting.

Also don't worry about buying a front half. Basically everything comes with the engine and box in the bamboo. Check the clutch before install and mods ur stock clutch master straight into the s13 slave. Change this if you could afford. Also go steel braided lines one time since u might have to mod this line

When cutting the driveshaft. Make sure and properly balance it. Make sure about the measurements because driveshafts need a certain amount of movement. Too long and it's a problem. When going with powersteering lines make sure and get new seals / crush washers. Trinidad hose does excellent work. Try to carry proper measurement. Mark it out with a piece of rope.
The clutch fan works good from the sr20 but it's up to you. Electronic modules easy to get if you going with electronic fans.
So far flex lite fans works excellent. Get some good relays. Same with fuel pump, get a good relay inside here . The stock fuel pump should work but it's up to you. It's good measure to replace it.
The fuel lines just swap them to the sr20 rail. Stock fpr on the rail would work. A replacement pretty easy to locate. So no need for a external unit.
I have more info regarding ac ect but idk if ur interested

Non turbo for sure unless I get tempted by a good deal on a DET.. lol, but that power will likely cause me to break parts easy. I had looked at some engines in the bamboo and can't remember for sure, but they were silver (no painted valve cover, and no coil packs were seen).

I currently have a J20 automatic Suzuki, so I need the full works for the conversion.. Will let Trinidad hose sort out custom steel braided lines for me one time.

Where is the stock slip yolk normally located? Within the gearbox itself or on the driveshaft? I will need a short shaft, about 1 - 1.5 feet long to connect the gearbox to my 4x4 transfer case. (I will have 3 driveshafts in all, gearbox to transfer case, TC to rear diff & TC to front diff). Would prefer to keep a slipyoke on the gearbox to TC shaft, that will allow for movement of the engine..
Trinidad hose did a lot of work for me already, no problems with them. Should get the powersteering sorted out easy. Still to decide between clutch and electric fans, generally prefer clutch though. I currently have a 255LPH pump + AEM adjustable FPR installed on the vehicle. Also have a 270A alternator to install, will do custom brackets one time.
Was just going to let my AC man sort that part out for me..
Any recommendations on a good electrician for the swap? I got 2 recommendations so far but haven't spoken to them as yet.

Marvin from point does excellent work. A sr20 is a simple motor to wire up
I also have a pal from Freeport that can handle it for you. Install. Everything. Electrical. I know your a diy guy. But the Sr20de is a simple motor to wire up. You can definitely get it running.
S13 clutch pedal with Master or pulsar would work. The slip yoke is mounted on the gearbox I believe. Can't actually remember
But from what you explained from the view of the engine. That's the perfect thing. S13 sr20de.

This is a vitara with the same sr20 I telling you about. Did some wrenching on this. Oil filter would be extremely hard to change with this swap. Go with a relocation kit one time. Or maybe yours would work well. In that model van with the swap it was a pain.

I have plenty space under my van, no control arms and steering rack etc in the way..

Best pics I have.. reaching the oil filter shouldn't be hard.. That is the same engine I saw in the bamboo self.
Somehow I strongly suspect the Vitara brain I have can run that SR engine, my brain only uses a MAF and Cam Sensor to run the motor! (No crank sensor and no narrow band O2 sensor). It has basic fuel and ignition maps.. would be interested to see if I could manage that one..

Hey guys, quick question, the S14 SR20DET (RWD) can run on super? What is the octane requirements for those motors?

if u could locate the aftermarket headers for them do not hesitate in buying them
sometimes slight modifications may be needed though

Grand Vitara scrapped. Chassis cleaned, primed, painted. All new wheel bearings, seals, traction aids etc. S15 SR20DET (6 speed, T28 turbo) installed, 4x4 transfer case installed. Just to finish front and rear driveshafts and get it wired.

Currently, I am looking for:
-aluminium radiator
-5speed gearbox electronic speed sensor (to mate with TC to get speed signal for speedometer)
-MAF (somehow I forgot to get this when I bought the engine in January

)

I had a similar problem the parts place sold me a S14 AFM.The car never worked well hard starting breaking in boost. So make sure you get the correct AFM.Cud get the part number if you want. Also most Rb from R33/34 speed sensor will be the same.

Balroops - 341-3662
He got it started pretty quickly and helped me understand the wiring setup. I will do the rest of the wiring to the body / gauges etc when I put the vehicle back together..
1st start up from since it was bought in Dec last year! A few vacuum lines were left disconnected so I needed to restrict some airflow for it to idle properly. Currently taping off the body to prep for paint..

Body installed on chassis. Rear driveshaft made at Gormandy's Engineering (they do great work!). Custom lower radiator mounts made, still have the upper brackets to build. Brake and clutch system to put back in. Sort out the electrical wiring and neaten up. Still have some body panels left to paint out also.. It's taking time, but getting there.
