Y12 Autech Rider Service / Maintenance Questions

Postby Premera » November 6th, 2013, 7:26 am

So I got one of these and need some assistance in terms of fluids, suspension etc.

What is the recommended brand / body oil to be used in the engine
What is the recommended CVT Tranny Fluid to be used
Power steering / Brakes Fuilds
Radiator Coolant Brand
Disc Pads for front

Also, the horn seems to have a short-circuit. When the steering is straight, horn does not blow, if I turn it to the extreme right, it works and as I slowly turn back to original position, it works al the way till the steering is straight, then it stops.

Electrician says spiral cable needs to be changed.

Alarm technician says its a short from steering wheel to top of steering mount shaft is the problem. it would not have worked if it needed changing.

Thanks for the assistance.

thanks Chris.

A lot of useful tips for Nissan owners here. Maybe we could all add lil tips and suggestions for servicing and maintenance in addition to what was asked and answered already ?

Another question :

Recommended fuel type and or Fuel treatment/ injector cleaner for engine ?

They were designed to work on Super,Amsoil,Qmi or redline fuel treatment works good. The Hr engine is direct iinjection so getting someone who does injector cleaning with the air compressor an canistor is the easier way to go.

The problem with the horn not blowing is the Ribbon Connector in the steering Column.
That has to be renewed.
Peace.

The horn is blowing when the steering is turned to the right . It continues to blow as I return the steering from the full right turn until its almost straight then it stops blowing.

The idea and working of the ribbon connector is that switches can be installed on a moving part (steering) yet connected to the stationary part (Wiring harness). It allows for the steering to be turned approximately three-and-a-half turns either side. The ribbons are really long flexible see-through circuit-boards connected to a plug at either end. One plug connects to the steering switches, the other to the wiring harness. Because of constant movement of the steering, breaks develop, hence the reason why you get the horn blowing when the steering is in a given position, yet when you turn the other way, it stops. Contact is being made, and broken too.
Because this is a complete unit, there are no replaceable parts. Too you have to be an electronics micro-surgeon to repair this. Then you have to know how to put it back together. It is not worth the effort, don't waste time, just get a replacement.
Foreign-used dealers have them. N&M will kill you with price...........if they have it.
Peace.

The mr16 is direct injected whereas the hr15/16 are multi-port.

To the other guy with steering using a belt, there is no power steering pump on the hr. Nissan uses a sensor that allows the steering to adjust base on speed the driver is going.

turbo, so its safe to use SUPER fuel instead of super unleaded or premium unleaded right ? As long as I use an injector / fuel treatment once monthly ( every 4-5 fill up )

Also, anyone knows who does the injector cleaning with the air compressor and canister by chance ?

Thanks ppl
