Replacing QR20 Engine on JK Cefiro

The QR20 engine on my Singapore 200 JK Cefiro has had its days. I can't source an engine like that one but I am getting some good deals on the Japanese QR20. I have been told that the car has to be re-wired with the Japanese engine and the old transmission may not work. Can this be done effectively? Will all the features in my Cefiro still be able to work?
Any advice will be appreciated.

What was wrong with the old engine?
Can't you just change the head and block and re-use your ancilliaries, plenty QR engine around to choose from in the Bamboo.

Any QR20DE Engine head and block will work..the transmission however has to 4wd..But ant QR20DE Engine will bolt up on your existing transmission..Ensure you walk with the old engine number written down so that when u getting the new one they can ensure it is for the 2000cc model car...

Guys,
My QR20 was up to 240K KM and had signs of a slow but progressive damaged head gasket or maybe even head warpage mis-fires when at peak operating temp.
My repair guy (and he is a certified master mechanic trained in the US) told me with a QR you cannot only shave the head the block must be done, As he had bad experiences with a QR20 in a Serina. So after 240k KM decided to change engine.
A bare qr20 would work (head and block no manifolds etc, however the valve cover can guide you as to if you are buying the right QR20. Some Qr valve bolt down differently on the transmission side of the cover, the middle bolt sits an inch or so inward, in compared to the Qr20 i got, so always ensure the valve covers are identical on your QR20. also, check the intake manifold, some Qr20 have a slightly angles intake on the head itself, so ensure your intake matches your manifold.
The last issue I came across was the old tranny bolting up to the new block, one bolt could not have been bolted up, the hole was their but not threaded. I got the used engine with a flex plate and was going to use it but the Flex plate on that imported engine is one inch or so away from the starter, so the starter gear would not initiate with that flex plate, so the old flex plate had to be transferred, and the hole that was not threaded had to be done in order to bolt up the starter and after that all was well. Some Qr 20 has its starter bolting on to the tranny and some to the back of the engine, while this is not a major issue when you have covered the ground I explained above, the only last thing you would need to do, is to blank off the hole where a starter could have been installed.
Be it Singapore, China japan, you need to inspect the engine physically to ensure your parts can be transferred over. Using you old manifolds, etc would save you having to do any adjustments to the harness, or even changing of the harness.
I also had one issue, the crank sensor on the mew(used) QR the harness plug-in was different so i had to use my old crank sensors to fit everything back stock.
Once you old sensors fit the head and block and plugs in you would not have an issue.
cheers.
