Just bought a 2006 Tiida RO RO. Idling fast, was the problem?

sounds like the throttle body needs servicing

Put the car on the scanner & let the machine bring down the idle to 700 rpm & 6 degrees TDC.BTW there is a sticker on the underside of the hood.

and when he switches off what happens? the stock ECU retains values now?

Good question wagonrunner.
chemical, does that machine reflash / write new values to the ECU's rom? that's the only way those values would be permanent.

It reflashes the ECU.

then why not disconnect battery for a couple minutes? or clear the self-learn?
adjusting operating parameters DOES NOT reflash the ECU.

So therefore it replaces the entire ROM on the ECU?
Because you cannot flash "part" of the ROM's data. You'd have to reflash the entire thing - reuse the original mapping + the modified values.
