QG15 transmission problems

Postby Bubba » March 30th, 2011, 5:12 pm

1st and 2nd gears change normally but the 3rd is giving some problems. Sometimes it just doesn't engage at all, the engine just revs to limit and the car starts to buck. I stop and adjust the shifter and then it goes in. At other times, the 3rd gear feels like it is struggling to engage, engine revs a little higher and with some effort in finally goes in. Is my transmission going or do I need to change a solenoid or something? Only 3rd gear is affected.

Most likey it could be solenoid valve switch in the transmission.

Sounds like the over drive not engaging!

PPL I have a simillar problem with a A33, I did a scan no problems did a ground kit, did a over all servise on the harness same sheit.
It revs up to 4000rpm at 40km and does not go in 3rd, when i release the X and mash again it does go in no problem.

Any advise / could it be the Trans ? can it be fixed.

My father's B14 had a similar problem.
His transmission was slipping and would only reach 2nd gear and not enter into 3rd. Mechanic change some rubber within the tranny and it works okay.

My advice: After you diagnosed the problem and turns out to be a bad/worn out transmission...avoid repairing and just buy another tranny.
