guys , I recently purchased a P11 wagon, it caries a SR20 Black top engine.
there is a slight hesitation while driving. sometimes you dip down and there is no response in the accelaration for about 2 seconds. Can anyone advise me on what checks to be done. Or what might be the likely cause.

smorgan@tdc.co.tt check your AAC valve, it may need servicing, among other common things, like throttle body, injectors, maf sensor etc.

where is the AAC valve? How is it serviced?

This valve is located on the intake manifold, it actually connects to it, there are two connectors connected to it and if you look to the left side, there is a black looking screw, this controls the cold start idle. To remove the valve, there are 3 10mm bolts that hold it, remove them, the connectors and a couple of air hoses as well, (you may have to disconnect the PCV valve hose to get to it properly) look carefulli , tisays AAC Valve on it, to service it, remove the black screw and sprey carb cleaner in it and let it soak, there is a spring behind the black screw also, properly clean this, I used a little WD40 on the spring, (just a small spray should work)
This used to cause me a rough idle, and also a "Flat sopt" when i mash for gas, and in extrene cases the car can stall. Hope this helps...

dude if I stop on a steepish hill and try to pull off from rest, my car doesnt go ,X to board. I have to reverse back downhill and build up speed to make it up the hill. I dont think thats normal for having a Powerful engine like a SR20VE.
My car never use to work like this, this has been only happening recently, and funny thing is that is is intermittent, sometimes it has the normal power (can make it up the hill easy from rest) and sometimes it gets very lazy.

does the cvt light blink when you switch back on the car after one of these episodes?

^^no it does not. This led me to believe it is not the Tranny. But 'Shine' (Electrician from penal) told me he is confident that it is the tranny tho. He did not scan (doesnt have a scanner), but said the scanner would not pick up the fault in the tranny anyway, as "it is sure to be the hydraulic motor / pump (I cant remember what he said)".
Any ideas. The dropping resistor checked out good. (11.8-12.2 ohms)

did all of the above but the ignition is pinking when ever I dip down rapidly on the accelerator. What can be done to eliminate this? I cleaned the injectors but this did not help

This happened to me once in my P11 sedan and was an indication that the stepper motor was going

^^Yes I feel that it is the stepper motor again. Now the problem has 'changed' somewhat. When I start the car in the morning, it works real powerful, and when it gets hot, it operates dead from pull off. But the gears change normally no matter what. The gears never 'stick', and this is why i INITIALLY THOUGHT IT WAS NOT THE STEPPER MOTOR.. the car is just dead (mostly from pull off). Yesterday I could not reverse up a hill.
Note I changed the stepper motor approx two year ago. Can the motor go bad so fast? I change CVT oil annually, so I do not know why it went so soon.

Apart from the stepper motor, it can also be a speed sensor on the tranny. I had a similar problem a couple years back, everyone told me it was the motor, went and did a diagnostic, problem wasn't occuring at the time and the diagnostic didn't pick up anything wrong, the technician said to come back when the problem is happening, did this and found out one of the speed sensors was bad, (same problem with no power when pulling off when hot), i changed the sensor and problem was solved. Hope this helps, just make sure and do a proper diagnostic WHEN the problem is occuring and work from there...

If is a cable tranny just the minor electrical like the overdrive will have to be reconnected.I did a few like these already
