I brought in 2 Teanas 230Jk from Japan this year and I have two on the seas to arrive in August. Receiving the cars on the port, I would fill up at the gas station on Wrightson Road.....with super. I drive down the highway, pretty hard.....no problem.
The V6 VQ23 is effortless driving, very linear, no flat spots....at least with the driver alone. Good handling, brakes, steering and A/C. From Wrightson Road, to Plaisance Park, Marabella, Union Hall, Licensing Office, back to Marabella...$35 super. Is that good or what ?
When compared to other Japanese brands with similar sized engines, the Teana 2.3 is quite some value for the money.
I don't know too much about the difference from the 230JM, except that the front seats are powered.
I can imagine what driving the 350 is like !!
Oh ! Another thing. The Teana is Japanese spec. The Cefiro (not Cifero. The pronunciation is different) is local & Singapore model.
Regards,
RR.

This was an Invoice for a Teana 230 JK I delivered last week. I have made some alterations to protect my and the client's interests.
John Doe.
2006 Nissan Teana 230JM. Chassis # J31-XXXX73.
Supplied by XXXXXXX Company LTD, Japan.
Cost. (with shipping): US$9,300
Foreign Bank Charge: US$ 50.
Insurance: US$ 93
Total cost from Japan:US$ 9,443.
Cost 1.
1st payment(US$4,675) $ 29,903 (To Japanese Dealer)
2nd payment(US$4,675) $ 29,876 (To Japanese Dealer)
Comp.of Customs & Excise $ 86,645 (Your Government)
Total Cost 1 $ 146,424.
Cost 2:
Customs Overtime $ 68
Shipping Agent Document fee $ 110
TTBS Tyre Inspection $ 100
Licensing $ 120
Gasoline $ 200
Buffing & Cleaning $ 300
Registration Plates $ 440
Customs Broker fee $ 650
Documentation $ 40
Insurance cover notes $ 212
Total Cost 2 $ 2240
Cost 1+ Cost 2 $ 148,664
The On-the-road cost of your unit is $148,664.
The 230 and 350 will have the same Customs duty, 35% of Cost, Insurance and Freight.
The BIG difference is Motor Vehicle Tax.
On the 230 you pay $43,875+VAT$6,581 = $50,456.
On the 350 you pay $78,750+VAT$11,812 = $90,562. This is tax on the engine alone !!!!!!
So by reason, assuming we get a 350 for the same price from the Japanese dealer as the 230, US$9,443, the final price will be.
$148,664 - $50,546 = $98,118
$98,118 + $90,562 = $188,680.
Here it means that we are paying Japan TT$60,189 to ship a 350 to Trinidad. After you minus the small charges (TT$2,240), the Government gets their share......TT$126,251. That is Customs Duty, MVT and VAT !!!!...........sigh !
So the 230 will cost $188,680. However although I have never brought in a 350, I feel that the cost will be between US$11,000 and US$12,000 from Japan with shipping. To reiterate, the actual cost is not bad for what you are getting. It is the damn MVT !!!
I hope this info was helpful.
Regards,
RR.
