Is it possible to install a QG18 head on a QG15 block? How much rewiring needs to be done and what are the expected hp gains? Seriously thinking bout this mod but haven't heard of or seen it done b4.

I think this was dicussed in a previous thread, but with a QG16 head on a QG15 block (I THINK).
Try going through the pages or research it.
If you wanna try that mod, you will need the QG18 ecu and harness, and you need to stick with the same QG series....there is a series 1 QG (cable) and series 2 QG (E-throttle).
I cannot estimate the HP gains, maybe one of you mech can share some light on this?!?! Whether if he will suffer compression lost or gains.
I know a smaller head on a larger block does increase compression...eg. a SR18 head on a SR20 block will increase compression...I never heard anything on a Larger head on a smaller block though

I never heard of this mod.As QG said, people dont really put larger heads on smaller blocks.I dont think it would increase performance either

Just do a complete qg18 swap.

Thanks. Trying to squeeze some more power out of this engine but it seems impossible. Engine has 82k km so dont want to swap just yet. But i want more.

it would increase power if the qg18 head has a better flow than the qg15

if ur keeping the engine automatic, dont even waste ur money, been there done that( not with the head swap but with all bolt-ons possible)
and someone with no mods but manual will pass u with ease

ha been there done that is right the
QG line of engines can only do so much and after spending all that money a wagon with a stock SR20DE will pass you like you are parked so just wait a little and swap a QG 1.8 or a SR2.0
trust me its worth it

I have a modified intake with K&N cone filter, iridiums and also installed front strut bar. Installing extractors from Imraj & sons soon and plan to pelt away that blasted transmission and put in a box.
