anyone running 18's on their trail...........

thinking of changing my stock 16" rims and considering going 17's or 18's

what type of ride you got, any suspension issues since upgrading and how are the tyre prices and availability

[b]Christian[\b] I ended up going to 18's around April - May 2009. TSW Jarama silver. 18x8, 40mm offset with 255/45 Kumho KL12 from Mileage Mack. That's about the widest you could probably fit on there! But i corner HARD with them f&$kers though!

Iirc the tyres were around +/- 900 a piece! I chose them because of the directional tread plus the beads are far enough apart to be useful in sticky situations. I eh trussin Roadstone tyres nah, which about every truck blinger have on their vehicle!
They speed balance them one time by MM and I saw them do it. But it shimmied a lot and had them speed balanced elsewhere some time after. It still shimmies a bit at about 120 though. I feel I have the hopping issue? The road noise compared to original is a lot more though! It's very similar to the big truck tyre noise with the big beads rolling on the road. It can get to you at higher speeds. I can't remember what the stock rims offset were though and how the new setup compares - in regard of bearing issues down the line....I researched quite a bit on the offset/width combination in an attempt to remain closest to stock as possible.

There is a section for the X's on nissanforums. You can check there for more info. Most of the guys on there are in Canada though, and they have the qr25 predominantly. I hope that helps.

ok thanks

i was thinking of running 235 55 18 though....either khumo or nankang

The stock 18" rims that comes with the nismo version is

18" 7.5j
40 offset PCD 114.5
230 50 18
and a weight of 12kg per rim

I just put on a set of Nexen 7000, Z rated, 340 treadwear.....can't really perf. drive on TnT roads anymore. had 235 -50-18, 280 Tread wear Toyos b4.

245,45,18's Got Nexens in Debe at 700 ea. balanced & mounted.
Wheel wizard , 701-RIMS. Nice clean place, spacious, not a dirty tyre dump like regular places.

Drove em up the hiway to chagunas.. no probs..seemed fine....online reviews are pretty decent.

Although I am running a GT at 12psi, s/s freeflow catback, sports suspension, i don't do foolish things with it. An Xtrail ain't an S14.

Jacks got Michelin 18s at 1800 ea.
Mileagemack Got Kumhos at 1567 ea.
Tyreclinic got Dunlops at 1200 ea
Michelin Pt Lisas got ...well, Michelin at 3000ea VI.

as of today.

Nissan has sold 50,000 X-Trails in the United Kingdom, X-Trails 's reliability is very good, X-Trails Wasn't Expensive to run. X-Trail certainly has a lot to recommend it, but steer clear of poorly specified early models.

Yea fellas time has come to change the oem tyres on the trail but want to go a little wider.

It has 215/70/15 (yes 15) on it but was thinking of using a 235/60/15 or even a 245/60/15 which will be closer in overall dia to the original tyre

Will the 245 fit without touching on full lock and where can I get same?

What size tyre does the oem 16" come with btw?

2001 Nissan Xtrail, Doing 175000Kms and HAD 20inch rims on it but it messed up suspension (looks good but not worth the damage..lol). So far have changed 2 head gaskets, both thermostats, dug out the catalytic converters, and now in the process of looking for a Full timing chain kit online since my chain rattles on start up (annoying) and N&M is selling the same kit one part at a time which is ridiculous!!!! Have had the vehicle for more than 6yrs and I drive it like I stole it and it works great!! Most parts I get from Bobby's or Seenath's at the bamboo or REV-Tek on St michaels rd in arouca... Just some advice DO NOT USE FRAM FILTERS on xtrail...have seen to many ppl have to change crank cos engine starved for oil...I use Purolator and it works great...

I am having a strange issue on start-up, wanted to see if anyone else has experienced similar things.

The issue basically is, that oftentimes, after i start the car and put it in drive (automatic), the first press down on the gas pedal doesn't get the car rolling, but rather rev's the engine while the car stays stationary - as if i am in neutral. Usually, i'll ease off the gas, and give it a 2nd press which then translates into forward motion. This does not happen every single time, but more often than not. Also, it seems to happen more so if I switch to drive quickly after firing up the ignition. If i start the car, wait 10 seconds while it idles in park, and then switch to drive, it does not happen.

Not a huge issue by any means, but an issue nonetheless. I am curious if anyone has had any similar experiences.

I'm also looking for xtrail seats and the upper dash glovebox passenger side.....anyone knows of anyone parting out?

The problem you are getting is a normal one..on cold start up the acceleration system that operates the accelerator is NOT A CABLE but a "Fly by Wire" which simply means that when the vehicle starts the computer makes a self diagnosis of entire vehicle and sends this information to the accelerator which is electronic and this sends a signal to the transmission and then to the engine.

So on cold start up if you put it in drive do not expect to drive off since the ecu is ensuring all is well and then when you accelerate before it finishes these checks, the car will rev. after it gets the all clear the xtrail will move,

If it was a accelerator cable setup from the x to the throttle body it would move instantly but since its all electronic it takes time so don't rush it, take you time and enjoy the ride.

Previous posts mentioned issues with overheating/sensors for older xtrails, has anyone encountered any other issues with the T30 xtrail classic over a 5year period (engine/suspension/transmission/interior/paint etc)? How have you found the road handling and 4wd capabilities to be? Additionally, any leads onwhere to find used or new accessories (apart from firm/motorist) such as rear tonneau cover, roof rail, bullbar etc.
Thanks.

Saw one with 215/60R17 on an OEM alloy wheel but sometimes they have different sizes with sports / luxury editions. I'll see if I can confirm by tomorrow.

Think the 2.0 versions came with 16" alloys and the 2.5 fully loaded has 17"

I can sell you a brand new genuine pair of complete arms for $4800.00.You won't get original bushings to buy locally and the substitute well...Seenath in the Bamboo have foreign use arms for $1800.00 for one and Massy have them for $6000.00 before 20% discount and V.A.T.

Neals the sound you getting going over the humps is your Sub Frame Bushings which when damage contribute to the Cradle Bushings going bad as well. You may not solve your entire problem by changing the Cradle Bushings alone. If you want some advice i will send you my number.

PARTNER I have a quote in front of me now dated 15/1/13 L/s cradle 5455.73 plus vat and r/s cradle 5096.68 plus vat totaling 12,135.27 vat inclusive. They then said less 20% and add vat for final price.Quotes over the phone are often wrong and is probably a Classic t30 they quote you on.I am not a Buisness man here after that quote I was assisted by someone to bring it from Japan and was just trying to help a tuner but if you getting it for 2500 take it.
